| Why the heck would Leeds want to sign any winger right now? We have one world class wing, another who looks class at times, a reserve who has played international, and then at least one very exciting prospect in Chisholm. Unless BJB was going to move to fullback full time, I wouldn't even consider it - even then I'd prefer to see how Chisholm goes first.

I'm simply comparing it to what we have done in the past. Connelly was brought into bring Mathers on and teach him some tricks from an old master. Buderus you could argue was used in the same way for McShane and Hood. Its too early to remember the other examples

I would agree with you....apart from the inclusion of Smith, who, more than ever, is no winger.
Perhaps that is the plan...to move BJB to FB with Webb's contract not renewed. Then it would make more sense.
On reflection I would not be interested or excited about re-signing Ellis: too many up and coming young uns for that to make sense not least Singleton etc and Amor to be brought back from Wakefield.

How would they be effected by Ellis signing? They are props. I would be highly surprised if Amor ever ends back up at Leeds. There was a reason they were willing to release him, and nothing has happened to really change that view point. People need to get over themselves with him.
Would Ellis aid or diminish our backrow options. That should be the only issue. How anyone can see the best backrower in the world as anything but aid though I just don't know.

| Gotcha last season and at the start of this year Amor showed massive improvement and proved he could handle SL at Prop and IF he maintains his form and progress there's no reason whatsoever why we wouldn't recall him hence the clause so maybe the "release/loan" isn't as cut and dried as you suspect.
Fwiw i'd have him back when Kylie retires and release Kirke aswell.
As for Ellis i hope the rumours are 1005 bang on and he will be back in BLUE 'N' AMBER in 2012 i think he will add undoubted quality to the team and with JP not going past 2013 (imo) he and Jjb will take the pack leader mantle.

Get you of course. Next Season I would assume Amor will be back and Kirke gone....but then that might be wishful thinking.

Amor showed an improvement in the last quarter of last season, not before. He showed he could stand out amongst a very poor bunch of players. He needs to show something above that to prove he could handle it amongst very good players. He was released in 2012. I would guess then, tha the coaching team looked at him from last season, looked at him at preseason, then thought we have better currently within our squad. He will have to go some, to change that view.
Singleton is mile better than him now, and he's down the que. By the end of this season we will have others banging on the door for that chance. I just can't see the lad coming back, unless he does something really special this year.
And Nantwich, I agree entirely with you on Kirke.

IF Webb is leaving and BJB moving to fullback, then we're left with, for two spots in the team: 1 word-class winger, 1 utility player covering injuries to the entire back 5 and 1 untried kid. I'd say wing would a priority area for recruitment in that situation.

| Just throwing it out there but what about Hardaker on the wing, if he doesnt kick on from last year assuming BJB moves to full back when webb leaves and we sign a centre preferably Jack Reed!

'" I might have missed something but haven't Leeds been quite unwilling to release Amor?
They've loaned him out but always brought him back. Even this latest loan deal allows Leeds the option to recall him for next year.
It would have been easy for Leeds to release him but they appear, for reasons which seem quite sensible to me, to want to retain his rights for as long as possible.
Like I say, unless I've missed something.

I think in that scenario I'd rather have Hardaker at FB. Assuming that the handling skills that lead natntwich to think he'll play at 6 are actually there, he'd be a very good FB in the mould of Webb, which would fit us very nicely. I'm sure the club have a long term plan for him though

I simply believe he has the ability and the confidence to develop those skills to become a top class SO (not necessarily right now) mirroring the career of one Garry Schofield. However, I do believe FB or indeed centre will suit him long term just as well (but not winger).
It all depends of course on what talent might arise or become available in the coming next few years. Indeed if nothing else Stevie Ward appears to be quite a talent that might yet claim the long term SO position.....all very exciting stuff.
Leeds seem to be progressing nicely at the moment after conversely apparently beginning an ominous slide (in a very debilitating manner) this time just one year ago.

I agree. I know Kylie is retiring and a few of our other key forwards are getting on but we have some great younger players coming through. If we sign Ellis that will give us another world class forward. If Gary H is after signing a quality back as well I think the logic is correct. I would prefer David Williams on the wing rather than Lee Smith who also might well have moved on.

If BJB is the full back I'd prefer Chisolm on the wing to see if can develop another BJB or even better, another Hall, the "WBW".

| I also would want to see Chisolm ,Smith ,Bjb and possibly Watson fighting out for the RW/FB slots.
Smith looked sharper pre-season and was unlucky to get injured and IF he recovers he deserves to be at least considered imo.
