| People blaming sinfield are missing the fact that most of this was broken before he took over.
The club was in the and had missed the boat with the best of the NRL talent available.
Some of the signings had already been made, and in the absence of a number of new faces, what choice did he have than to retain old players who could do a job, albeit a limited one.
I'm not entirely sure who has the final call in signings, but I'd say the signings made by sinny are
merrin - decent but not yet a star
Crosby - did ok last year, AWOL this year.
Albert - cheap uninspiring filler
Donaldson - cheap uninspiring filler
Ava - potential to be decent.
There are some questions signings but options are limited when you miss the primary window for signings and you have a lot of cap tied up in players. It took too long to get rid of garbutt mullally and Walters.
We have to pretty much shift all the off contract players for next year, and try buy a new core.
I don't think sinny has been great but I think his hands have been tied. Next coach appointment and signings will make it break for me

He also retained Ablett & Jjb both well past it.

But he didn’t sign JJB, that offer was made before he came back. It was actually a commitment from Hetherington that he had a playing contract every year, with JJB saying when it was time.
Ablett fair enough. But Eagle missed off Hurrell.

| I referred to signing up old players but didn't mention then by name. My feelings are that they were desperation signings as first choice options hadn't come off.
I do wonder with Crosby whether his injury isn't necessarily a physical one, which is why details are not freely available. If so, I don't know whether well see him play for a while.
I couldn't remember when hurrell was signed. Also you can never be sure when someone is signed and when someone is just announced.
Either way, if sinny is being groomed to talk take over long term, I doubt he'd have full reign over the whole rugby side straight away.
For me, GH is to blame for most of this, but I don't buy into him having to go, I think that would be counter productive
I think he needs to swallow his pride and amount to himself he has brought this on himself and fix it. As the man who laid the foundation of our golden decade, he can do it again.

| I'm told by a good source that Crosby, while ok when fit, isn't durable enough to be relied on and will spend more time injured than fit. His signing seemed to be a bit desperate.

| it's what kept happening at warrington (even taking into account the personal issues in his first season) he kept picking up these weird knocks that would keep him out for weeks, usually in training.
i don't think he ever actually got a run of games for us

| Sinfield knows what he wants apparently, that's the easy part. How to achieve what he wants is the tricky bit and there is a chance he may not be up to that. He's never had to make these decisions before and they are completely different to those a player would make.
Having said that, this is probably the worst Leeds team I've ever seen. Even in the "good old days" we 50 somethings bore the younger generation with we never lost to lower division opposition. We not only lost on Saturday, we were outplayed. Line speed was comical, effort and commitment was non existent, the only thing we had in abundance was stupidity. Merrin and Dwyer apart (and a game effort from the kid playing 7) they were absolute $h1te. Have we recruited every clinically obese player in the NRL? I thought someone had brought the Roly Poly's out of retirement.
Handley's last play kick summed up the hopelessness of the day's effort as much as the truly masterful decision to put Watkins in the second row.
The first thing Sinfield has to recognize is that this "is" a 10-4 team, once he can get his head around that then he might have a chance of moving forward.

| makes one wonder if something is going on behind the scenes like apart from player recruitment ,but search for new investors with a view to well who knows ? the management appears to have lost direction now with the news about resigning a near 37 year bold

| Some things are hard to fix like lack of a halfback. Effort in defence can be fixed overnight. Fitness can be sorted in a matter of weeks.
On the fitness I'd look at getting an expert to set targets for every player to meet in a month (injuries aside). Then give ALL of them written notice that their contracts will be torn up if they don't meet them. Then follow through. There is literally no excuse for a full time pro to be a pudding, and no excuse for not calling them on it.

Personally I disagree on the worst team, they are playing like that but IMO the squad is capable of playing much better than they are, why they aren't playing better is the biggest issue for me.

agreed every game we turn up expecting to see the things that weren't there in the previous game rectified or at least a bit more effort ,no second half implosions etc

Peter Fox didn't assemble such a massive pile of manure as this lot.

| Personally I find myself far more angry with the current team than either 96 or the other worst incarnation I remember of 86-87. In those cases there were specific causes - poor finances primarily - and the club turned things around very quickly once they got their act together.
The more recent problems are far harder to excuse as we had a real warning in 2016 and didn't act on it, and we have almost the same structural issues now as we did then. Added to that we've got a whole bunch of players who are 'supposed' to be good playing in the most gutless manner possible. They are so bad as a group its really hard to tell who is just rubbish and who is not trying.
