Thaler can put that red card in his trophy cabinet, it will make a great after dinner speach. He couldn't believe his luck - a chance to send off Kevin Sinfield. He didn't waste it, unlike all the other opportunities he and his colleagues have bottled this season.
This must be the most shambolic, cockless bunch of officials we have ever assembled in the history of the sport.'"
I think officials have been fairly consistent with cards over the last couple of years for foul play, what was he supposed to do say no sorry i won't red card him its Kevin Sinfield?

| Why are all these Wigan fans so bothered? I thought Sinfield was supposed to be useless? Surely they should want no ban so he's on the field as long as possible.

| The ref did the right thing. But those calling it a proper head butt have never given or reseaved one.

He won't be banned when you play us, well i doubt it.
Just out of curiosity when was the last time you read a post that said Sinfield is useless? I know a couple of seasons ago that was the majority opinion of him but i can't really remember anybody implying it lately?

Strange as it may seem, referees don't view everything through a prism of opportunity to annoy. If Thaler had any nefarious intention it was the overwhelming fear of a public evisceration if he had failed to send a player off for the most clear-cut reason we'll see all year.

| I was at the game when Ashton and Fairbanks got sent off.
We got let out early from school so the teachers could go to the game.
A real punch up with fists flying if I remember correctly.
That was a long time ago!
Sinfield's surely was a head butt with full contact and aggression.
The mouthing off afterwards was pretty intense.
A four match ban reduced by one for EGP and previous good record and £300 fine.
To miss the semi, will that prove costly?

| it shouldn't matter if Sinfields french kissed him or full on butted him, he's had a moment of madness and deliberately head butted him. IMO it should be an E grade offence but given his good record it probably won't be.

| I think he went to square up to him but it went horribly wrong. It happens a lot, usually on he fringes of an out-and-out brawl. If Dorn had led in with his head they'd have both made contact and had a few verbals.
If Sinfield had meant to do a proper headbutt, he'd have flicked his head forward then brought it back. He didn't he went forward with his head then kept pushing.

| One thing I've always pointed out to casual fans when watching a Leeds game is Sinfield's self control. There are times when he has a look on his face like he's going to explode, then he takes a breath and you can see him control it. Always had so much respect for him for that, it's more than I could do in similar situations (and more than probably any other SL player). You can see it in his post-match interviews after bad defeats too, very professional.
Needless to say it's massively out of character for him and as a consequence I don't feel any animosity towards him after last night. I can imagine how much sitting in the changing rooms while his team lost the lead would hurt a player like Sinfield. I actually feel a bit sorry for him.

Jesus.
A passenger plane gets deliberately shot out of the sky
Sir Kevin Sinfield goes around head butting.
And now a decent Wigan fan.
I'm confused.
