Are they really? Or are they just competing in the same market place?

Are you seriously concerned that, at the local level in Leeds, the RU club can harm our market share?

Quote: BillyRhino "Like DHM, I don't have a problem with the Union version of our game, although it can be a bore fest at times.

Caddick is a very astute business man, and his primary interest was in the Headingley site as a whole. I'm pretty sure his original business plan encompassed both Rugby Codes and the Yorkshire Cricket side of the ground.

It's been a nice little earner for him, and without his input, I suspect we would have been deep in the mire.'"

That too is my impression, it doesn't fit with the agenda's of some, but there you are.

I see, and you believe that those dinosaurs with very old and entrenched personal beliefs are representative of the whole of the English Rugby Union do you ?

There are people who still believe that Superleague was a bad thing, that we should still play through the winter, and that Featherstone and Dewsbury should be as far south as the game should go - do you think that those people represent your views too ?

Have you ever spoken to a coach at a rugby union club ?

Using a rational and objective view point, you are quite correct. However, 115 years of persecution (perhaps a little strong but, hey the hatred runs deep) is very difficult to clear away.

For what it's worth, I couldn't really give a toss about Leeds Carnegie or any other RU club for that matter. Its a morally bankrupt sport that could only be made interesting if played by 30 naked glamour models (oh, the irony).

The hostility ran pretty deep for a great many years so whilst I'd expect attitudes to be changing and younger administrators to show alot of respect for their rival code, I'm equally sure there is plenty of hostility still present. Give it another 20 years and it should be gone completely.

Not that that's of any relevance to a discussion on the merits of Leeds Carnegie though.

As you know, I'm involved in a small way at a local RU club which runs ten teams in all age groups and has a range of RU-qualified coaching staff from enthusiastic fathers helping out to dyed-in-the-wool ex-playing members, none of whom fit the mould of chinless wonder rah-rahs, all of whom use rugby league as the blueprint for set piece moves and defending.

There is a hell of a lot of respect for RL in the Union game and I have yet to hear anyone wish for its demise.

Not that any of that suits the arguments of the oppressed victims point of view of course.
