Quote: ArthurClues "Momorosvki has played a fair few games in the best league in the world as a winger. Crucially, I would imagine he's far better both offensively and defensively under the high kick than Roberts. Both Leigh and Saints have benefited from his inexperience over the last couple of weeks. Seems a reasonable call to me.'"

Yep, spot on.

If Roberts isn't a winger, play him at centre and Mom on wing (if you want to keep Martin in the pack) or switch them for later tacklecount i.e. when a kick is expected.
Otherwise use Martin at centre and let take some of the grunt yards rather than relying on Mom to do it.

Think its presumed Hurrel will be playing and he was well marked by Martin. A frustrated Hurrell isnt something you want on your team.

Are you trying to equate playing a player who has played wing in the NRL to Gannon playing in the halves?

Daft.

In this game I can completely see the rationale in playing Mom on the wing. To win this game we need to cut out the unforced errors,be stronger coming off our own line particulary in our right corner and take our opportunites when they come. With a first choice bench me must fully utilise all the players to keep momentum in the game. If Ackers can play majority of the game I would load the bench and take the risk on no injuries in the backs.
If we were playing say Cas or London then no way should it be Mom on the wing go with the kids.

So you think Martin Centre,Mom Wing and Bentley / McDonnell back row then a bench of two props and two backrowers ?.

It's not a bad idea and it means a more experienced edge. Though I do think Martin is less effective there.

My point exactly in your words" he's not even a winger" but being picked as winger? Handley apart we haven't had a decent winger since Briscoe was deemed past it.

Like many outside backs he has played a bit if both although mostly centre over the last few years. Clearly with Fusitua out, we are short of a winger. The question is - who is the better candidate to play wing in a high pressure knockout game, Roberts or Momirovski? Momirovski gets my vote considering Martin has proved an able back up at centre.

Agree. The wider issue here is we lack depth of a good young winger when Fusi is out against the better sides in the competition.. as we do up front. That's 2 areas where we remain behind the top 2 or 3 sides imo. We're most certainly better equipped this year but still a tad short.

Momirosvki has played both Centre snd Wing in the NRL.

The point was you compared that to Gannon playing a couple of games at Stand Off.

As I said. Daft.

Will be a year or two before academy kids are ready to start phasing into the team iirc.

If we could get a decent winger for a few years that would be great.

Hurrell was absolutely blowing with his hands on his knees in the first half last week.
We really need to get at him and keep him working.

Despite Shabs's undying love for him, he is their weak link in defence.

Scanning a list of off contract SL players I noticed that there's a big chunk of an ageing but evergreen winger at KR. Bring Hally home?

Hurrell is blowing after one involvement. Send 5 tackles his way for repeated sets!
