The frustration for me is the inability of the club to compete for or attract the top talent - Leeds were in for Hastings he went to Wigan, Jai Field at Wigan etc. We shouldn't be scratching around singing the likes of Eastmond, King etc it looks like there isn't a coherent strategy about the long term development of the squad. Gale is a good player but a player in decline, Lui the same - Hurrell very poor signing - where is the quality the club should be better - is this a coaching or a cash issue?

Leeds didnt sign Hastings because at the time a fee had been agreed but Hastings wanted an NRL clause so we pulled put and rightly so.Why pay a large fee when the player could have walked away within 12 months. You mention Jai Field he hardly got into his former team so im not convinced he is top talent.Hurrell has made the dream team for the last two season so not sure how you come up with poor signing.Lui was brought in after the failure to secure Hastings and did his job of keeping us up.Tetavino was brought in on marquee money and if rumors are correct we beat a few clubs to his signature.Prior has been an excellent signing.King is a project signing on 12 month contract if he doesnt improve this will not be renewed.Too early to say whether Eastmond is a bad signing.

Field was another player Leeds wanted to sign and it fell through - maybe a blessing indisguise given what has happened. Very few people outside of Leeds would say Hurrell's form - not his hype deserved a place in the dream team. Poor defender and a very hot/cold player - perhaps Dean Ware would have been a more positive centre signing?

I said Lui and Gale are both in decline - even you must admit their best days are behind them . On King why are we not developing our own project players rather than hoping for a miracle NRL transformation? Eastmond is as old as Gale and hasn't played RL for >10 years - how will that end well - do we have so little faith in Mclelland again another poor project signing.

There doesn't seem to be a coherent strategy in squad development.

We're continually in transition because we keep renewing the contracts of players that should be moved on and continue to buy players we want rid of within a year or so. Our squad management has been terrible. We've built such a boring side.

I think Gale was just what we needed a half back with plenty experience who can boss the team. Lui has I said earlier was brought in to do a job. I doubt he'll be here next season. We are developing Broadbent Walters Holroyd A Sutcliffe plus there is Gannon and Edwards who I think we'll see quite a bit in the next 18 24 months. have all come through in the last 18 months. If Eastmond signing doesn't come off then we need to go and get a 6.We are still short of a prop and a winger. Plenty of players off contract so should be enough cap space. The team is more balanced and has a much better team spirit than it did a couple of years ago.

On Mclelland and Eastmond, maybe the club don’t have faith but your missing the fact that Callum is injured so unavailable anyway, Eastmond signing might not work out we’ll see.

And on King, who is he blocking? Gannin has played first team this year and our you g prop Holroyd is injured, who else have we got?

The reason the strategy doesn’t seem coherent is because of all the injuries

The only player I wouldn't have renewed is T Briscoe, Donaldson I think earned his new deal.,hes not the best but gives100% every game. Thompson can play second row and prop so it's probably a good thing he signed as there wasn't many props out there to bring in. Who else shouldn't we have retained in the last 2 years?

Some would say Myler, but he earned it too....

I couldn’t watch on Sunday but just seen the SL show, where Jon Wilkin said some of our senior players should be embarrassed and in effect said they did not even have a dig.

Who do you think he was referring to, our right centre combo?

Probably but I wouldn’t listen to a word Wilkin has to say about Leeds he has clearly still got a massive chip on his shoulder regarding us.

Yeah. Don't take much for Wilkin to dig the knife in. He seems more bothered about free promotion for his cafe, than saying anything useful when I've heard him....

Quote: Mild Rover "I empathise with this. After the first game of this season, when Hull KR came back from 28-4 down to tie the score against Catalans but then lost on dogcack point, the accumulated sadness was too much and I decided to take an emotional half step back. The relentlessness of losing nearly every week in 2020, the frustrations and failures of 2019, Peacock’s reign of error in 2016, the humiliation of the 2015 cup final... sometimes you need a bit of a break.

It does also make me think though that the routine success clubs like Leeds, Saints and Wigan have enjoyed in the modern era has maybe become addictive and not good for the game - even for the successful. I know you’ve had some fairly ropey seasons, it is partly about performance relative to expectation, and there are probably Swinton, Whitehaven or even Bradford fans who’d roll their eyes at my complaints. However, Leeds did win the cup less than 7 months ago.
The suffering of the fan. I think many of us have a bit of Gordon in us. I can still recite our cup winning teams
Of 68,77 and 78. I bet you can with Rovers 80. Hall, Hubbard, Haggerty F ...
I don’t think there is answer to the pain, all the best for the rest of the year Mild Rover.

Maybe so but it’s pretty damning , we’ve had far too much of this stuff in recent years. Anyway onwards to wakey, I reckon we need to win minimum 4 preferably 5 out of the next 7 to put us back in the mix for the six.
Anyone know how long
Eastmond is out for?
