I have to say this is becoming a big bug-bear of mine with Leeds. It's not rocket science that rugby league has two facets, and if you can't do one of them you're stuffed.
We keep signing/retaining players who might (or might not in some cases) look good going forward, but can't defend. As a top-table wannabe club that's just not good enough. And you can't have some players who do all the defending, and some who do all the attacking (so we sign players like Donaldson). Great players do both well.
It's difficult to tell sometimes with the younger lads because there is a strength element, but I'm still seeing too much grabbing and flailing from the ex academy products - your technique needs to be 100% if you're defending a bigger and stronger opponent.
