| Lots of effort and commitment, defensive grit but very little craft, guile , skill and virtually zero entertainment or excitement.
This plan , if you can call it that of playing flat to the line with loads of one man drives and then hoping some off the cuff play comes to fruition looked toothless. Stop Cuthbertson off loading and watch Watkins and Moon - job done.
A one paced pack, except the hooker and woeful kicking game, this team is going nowhere versus the top 4/5 and will struggle to score many against anyone.
Sutcliffe does not look like a stand off to me, however with little go forward and no players in movement, dummy runners or planned moves, Wally Lewis would have looked no great shakes.
The lack of last tackle organisation means one of two things to me, coach has not sorted from last year or Sutcliffe, burrow not executing. Almost certainly coach's fault.
Looks like being a slog to me.

| Watching Saints V Leeds last night was a very hard slog.
I'd much rather watch Cas than those two.

Watched some great Leeds v saints games over the years, can't recall anything as drab as last night. Compounded with being stuck in the car park and m62 being closed on way home, it was a real triumph.

The only thing the game had going for it was the close scoreline. I'm not going to bother watching the recording.
No dramas for me on the trip back. Coach was parked literally 10 metres from the exit from the ground and I was seated on the coach within a minute of the final hooter. There was an initial delay of around 10 minutes getting away from the stadium but I don't recall any closures on the M62 on the way home. Was back in Leeds and home by 11:30.
Was initially reluctant to go as I was expecting the return coach trip to be a ball-ache but it turned out to be a pleasant trip. Just the game that was a ball-ache

| J12 exit was closed when we got there. It was fully committed stuff from both teams but they won't sell many dvd's

Coach I was on drove through Swinton and Salford so I'm guessing it took East Lancs Rd route instead. Must have been forewarned of that M62 junction closure.

| Leeds should have pushed the boat out to sign Gale when they had a chance.
And McShane isn't too bad either.
Yes it might have only been Leigh but Gale showed what a half decent half back can do and a pack that can run the ball in, tackle and offload.
Let's see what we can do against Leigh next week.

I seem to remember them doing it a lot last year and while you could say they're backing their defence it's just a really cynical play.'"
I agree. There were a couple of occasions where a sin bin was required where Saints held down following a break by Leeds. Unfortunately Bentham didn't do so.
A pet hate of mine is the lack of use of the sin bin.

Mcshane deserved at least a yellow last night aswell but Hicks was lenient yet we all know that both Bentham & Hicks wont hesitate next week or the week after because neither are consistent.

If Saints had jumped out of the line in ones and twos like Leigh did last night, Leeds would have won more than comfortably.
I thought Cas did well but they didnt overly impress me simply because they never needed to hit top gear. It looked very much like an SL side v a Championship side.

You missed the bit of his interview where he also said he thought our kicking game was very good. That would be double Jesus wept. The man is a total fruit cake.
