| Quote: christopher "I think some are misinterpreting what I was saying. I never said that the abuse etc was an excuse for poor performances, I said I don't think it helps.
I agree with Leeds Owl that the home crowds are generally good and I don't hear that much abuse where I sit, it's online and away games where I see it most, and I'll stand by my opinion that it's not helpful and certainly not pleasant to be around.
Hull away was bad, and we won.'"
We've been here several times this year haven't we?
At Saints the fans were great to start with, positively supporting the side and giving it some noise. The mood quickly turned sour though and I'd best describe them as passionate but fickle AF. I don't believe getting on the players or coach's back does any good. It's like a form of mob bullying: individually none if these lads without their beers and mates around them is going to call RS out to his face or have a go at a pro RL player for having a bad game, I think it's weak and a bit immature and lacking in class.
I don't buy the "people have a right..." argument here either. The thing with rights is that one person's rights usually infringes on someone else's rights, it's just an excuse to be selfish really. Do oil protesters have the right to block traffic? No, drag them off the roads. I've got a right to get to work on time, or a patient in an ambulance has the right to get to hospital etc. Today's society is so entitled it drives me bonkers - to get along, we all need to compromise a little bit and empathise a little bit.
Anyway back to the game, I think we're missing Holroyd in the middle. This is sport, luck, decisions and various other things have a part to play in the result. We should win, we might lose, that's sport. It's not a catastrophe either way stop being hyberbolic guys. I'm expecting a win, but clearly we're going to have to cut out the stupid mistakes and take Cas seriously.

| Leeds fans will back the team when they can see the team putting in the effort and giving it a real go.
What were being served up is error ridden rubbish with the same mistakes and shortcuts taken by multiple players repeatedly.
This is how they are being set up, this is how / why we are struggling. We dont have a coherent gameplan to try and mitigate the problems we have in our squad and instead continually fail to even execute basic skills correctly, this is a coaching issue plain and simple.
The last 20 mins at Saints showed how weak this team can be when they ran the white flag up and Saints dutifully blew out the score.
If Id've paid all that money to travel there, buy tickets, a few pints and more than likely a £20 taxi home from the Supporters coach when money is tight for everyone I think I have the right to show my displeasure without it going into personal attacks. Im not fickle, im peed off that a team whos standards should be much higher is happy to bumble along the bottom half of the league and the powers that be up to now have been content to let this happen.

| Don’t get me wrong I was fuming at the performance on Friday.
I didn’t shout abuse at the players when they were behind the posts after a try though

Fair enough. Not everyone is the same, not everyone has the same restraint. Everyone reacts differently.
I was fuming on Friday night too, mainly that gig venues charge you £6 for a can of red stripe. Maybe I shouldve booed the barstaff?

Maybe they’d have come back to you and announced a DoR (director of refreshments)

Down at Cats some of the abuse and comments directed at Sangare were borderline racist, no need for it, if he's crap then yeah call him crap but no need for his skin colour to be brought in to the equation.

Well said - racism has no part in society let alone sport.

What do you do applaud them when this miss a tackle or can't catch a ball or in Newman's case can't be bothered to run back into the defensive line?

Well I did make a big effort to get across to watch the game but didn't resort to chanting against my own side... horses for courses.
I don't think it is a coaching issue plain and simple. You can't dissociate the influence coaching has on individuals, the team and results of course - but as I keep saying performance is multi-factorial. You say the team was not trying, I don't accept that. I think some individuals let the side down - and you don't need many before the score will blow out against top sides. Players like Frawley might be over-trying if anything. Players like Mik and McDonnell try their hearts out every week.
I also disagree that the players or the powers that be are happy for us to bumble. GH needed to relinquish some control and it looks like he has, finally. And the squad certainly needs improving; the coaching probably needs improving too.
The bottom line is that Leeds need to be better. We have been bad for way too long - and this pre-dates RS which so many on here seem to forget. We won the 2017 GF and snagged a CC win during COVID but aside from that we haven't been a dominant side for what ten years nearly? We already tried changing the coach about four times over that period and it hasn't worked. This new Sporting Director role should be really important and a step forward; but it really does depend who they appoint.

Newman looked borderline unfit/injured at times to me, I think he just has a really petulant side to him sometimes which he still needs to work on. He's an incredibly frustrating player; physically moves like a thoroughbred racehorse, but his attitude has often led to problems. For one of our higher profile players he needs to be more of a positive influence and leader, and get his consistency sorted out.

| To label him as having a bad attitude is to not really know the person. You couldn't meet a more determined and caring individual, the way he's coming back from horrendous injuries is testament to that. Have a read of the article about him and his brother and you'll see he's quite open about his challenges, he's self aware of how they manifested in a difficult time and working to improve himself.

I don't really know him no. In the article he talks himself about taking therapy and improving the way he handles situations... being determined is a given, he has been guilty of being a bit of a pain in the backside at times though.
He wasn't great against Saints was he?

| For someone who wants to jump quickly to the coaches defence, thats some real compassion for what the lads been through with his family and crediting his self awareness Jim.
You'll find he says himself that saints last week was probably his worst game.

| I'm fearing another Leeds v Hudds game here which we should of sealed with a victory... Just come through Headingley now and getting on the bus were some Rhino "fans" saying they'll be praying for a Cas win just to get Rohan nearer the exit door!

Unfortunately and i give him a little leeway due to his injuries , poor coaching of the team and poor team mates he does not have many good games
