Nothing to do with cycles. It's all about management. You do it right, you stay at the top. You do it wrong you fall from grace.
Cycles is something posters sillily trot out now and again.

An interesting aspiration.
Yet history shows us it does come in cycles.

History shows nothing of the sort, especially in any form of sport.
It's a bloody big cycle for the likes of Dewsbury, Featherstone, and Leigh, if it did have any truth to it.
Management is what provides a successfull sporting organisation, not the time of the month (sorry year, decade, century).

| That's a valid point regarding the teams you mentioned, I would like to think the Bulls are not in that group.
Take Saints as another example, they have not dropped off anywhere near as much as us,but they have had to take a step back before going forward again and no doubt their time will come again in the next few years
Agreed about management at a club been the foundation to build from, hopefully the management we have now will be better than the last shower, caisley and hood

Management changes. It's a bloody good job for Leeds it changed in 1997 or who knows where we would be in our cycle.
It's also been a big cycle for Huddersfield but they're top of the table now.
Wigan were once relegated you know?
Leeds escpaed relegation on points difference.
You have named teams that have enjoyed success in the past but no longer do. To prove your point you need to name a team that has been consistently successful throughout it's entire history. Go for it.

Why would I need to do that Gareth? you have already just stated my argument, backing it up. Management is what changes to success. Nothing to do with Cycles. If you don't get it right managing something, you will never come back round.
The times where teams fall from grace, is the times changes are made and are wrong. The times teams have sucess is when the right foundations are put in place and a focus on them. Do it right and it will continue.
Saying things are cyclical is a media statement, and usually trotted out by the British and the Aussies only.
This is a pretty good read on Britains sporting success over last 10 years, and inparticular why it has happened

| I'm not suggesting the cycle of time is what causes the change in fortunes. The cycle of time is what bring the changes in management and decision making fthat leads to the changes in fortunes.
It's inevitable.

The traditional cyclical nature of sporting success has been drastically reduced IMO since money began to play such a role in professional sport.

Cycles of bankruptcy and closures and reformation, Bradford have got the monopoly on it.How many times since 1895 have they closed ,gone bust, reformed under another name?Last year out again with the begging bowl and the this year the Bradford fans still have the mischief to have a go at Leeds management. The begging bowl option has gone now.

| Feel the flow. It's circular, like a carousel. You pay your quarter you get on the horse. It goes up and down, and also around. With the music, the flow. All good things.

| I don't agree with him getting the golden boot but he has been one hell of a player for Leeds over the last decade. If he hadn't had a bad day with the boot in the '11 cup final I reckon you would have beaten us. He tore us apart in both semis last year. Hope he brings his A game for England, captaining us to World Cup glory would give him true legendary status

| Most of them have been covered. If pushed id plump for the 2003 semi....as much for the guy next to me, who got up and stomped up the stairs at Huddersfield confidently declaring "he wont bloody kick this. I'm off", only to be sat back in his sat looking sheepish 2 minutes later.
