Don't get me wrong this kid had a sack full of potential and showed show good skills but a quick, soft pass to his wingman wouldn't go a miss ever now and again.'"
Often see that when players try to fill in the centre position though, the stat sky gave of 33 games 39 tries is very impressive

| I have liked this kid even before we signed him, watching him for Fev on sky. Yes, as some have mentioned he's a little raw in some aspects of his game, but that will come in time, and that's the great thing about him isnt it? The potential to get better and better is there, and he couldnt be at a better club to untap this kid's potential over the next few years.

| It's defo get carried away day but a season that has been bleak at best, win or lose next week has ended with real promise for the future especially in the 3/4's, add the signing of young briscoe and the future is looking much better! There is light at the end of the tunnel and perhaps it's not a train!

| Quote: Seth "I made my judgement early in the season on McDermott after having the opportunity to talk to him and hear his views on the game. He's very insightful and interesting to listen to, I didn't think the same of mclennan. He certainly deserved more time and respect than to be called silly little names and the like, jumping on every word he said.'"
Well said sir and why I too have consistently defended McDermott against some of the comments on here which were OTT. The common denominator to our performances (good and bad) has been the form and fitness of our key players.
BM deserves great credit for weathering the storm from the critics to prepare and motivate his players to produce some good form and great attacking rugby at the business end of the season. Sure we still may not be as good as the top 3 but we will have made the 'Club Call' a whole lot more difficult for Warrington as we are a real threat for any of them.
Hardaker looks a real future star and could well play in any of the back positions including SO.

Agree totally.
A natural winger a great finisher who hugs the touch line. If he is to be a first choice centre he needs to develop a right to left offload. Ryan Hall won't score ten tries next season if Zac is his centre. Give him a wing berth.

| As the fickle tide of fan feelings now turns to appreciation for McDermott do we see any contrition from posters who often criticised Hetherington? I thought he'd let the squad decline? I thought he didn't sign players that were any good. GH is the same GH who signed Hardaker and Hauraki, another one that the fickle fans are now shifting their affection towards.
As for the coach. Let's wait and see. Do we go forward next year or does he continue his record of taking his clubs to a lower place in the table each and every season. That is more important than his ideals and eloquence whilst chatting to coaches.
Whilst I never called for his sacking I remain unconvinced. He deserves credit for picking Hardaker in the centre but would he have done so had Watkins and Ablett been unfit? I myself called for Hardaker in the centre some months previously.
The mistakes he made earlier this season and the baffling decisions he came up with remain and it was right and proper for them to be discussed.
That is my view, always has been and will be regardless of next week's result. I suspect if we get a dicking next week those now gushing in admiration will be polishing the knives. Such is the way of many fickle fekkwitts.

| On the subject of Hardaker. 33 first team appearances at open age for Fev and Leeds. 39 tries. 39?
I remember a certain K Brown with those kind of stats once and he hasn't turned out bad a 6 has he?

I don't think anyone is "taking back" their earlier views on the coach and some of his calls just offering a bit of credit when things have improved.
I think it's fair to mention GH aswell and you are not wrong in saying that his signings have improved their performance namely Hauraki.
Time will tell if/how we improve under the coach and the upcoming "squad changes" will be vital in that process and hearing him describe Moore as having huge potential does still leave me concerned and cast a cloud of doubt over his stewardship.
As fickle as many are i think it's fair that they give the coach some credit at this moment in time do you not agree?

Me too.
I'm still not happy about the 6,7,9,13 arrangement though.
How much of the improvement is down to players having learned their new roles?
Also, got give some credit to someone about Kirke, he's actually driving the ball in these days rather than slamming the brakes on at the moment of collision.
Still not getting many metres with it ... but one thing at once eh?

That is why I wouldn't suggest he is a "natural" centre as others have done....for that (as in bringing his winger into play) look no further than Watkins.
Since Hardaker's debut I have consistently stated he should not have been dropped (certainly not in favour of forwards) from the threequarters.
His undoubted talents in attack demanded that he became a regular in some capacity.
As others are now begining to realise his "natural" position is stand off: I would like to see him partnering McGuire at SH at the start of next season. (on the assumption that no better outside newly recruited talent is being lined up - Chase/Marshall etc)

| I've seen nothing in Hardakers game to show he has the passing, kicking ability or nouse to play in the centre of the park. He may have it, im just not sure where he has shown it.

Geez the 'feel good factor' really does increase that rose tint.
We still have a poor coach... his selections disappoint and his motivation for less [iself[/i motivational games is proven to be non exisitent.
No way should Kirke be selected....this was the opportunity to see how Amor could perform. How many chances do some of you guys on here want to give Kirke ? He's a waste of a bench spot IMO.

I agree mac has copped it big time from us arm chair know alls so its only fair and right he gets a bit of respect back. I hoped he was the right man for the job, I'm still far from convinced. But as I said earlier I think in a year that defo has transition issues for the club in the 3/4's we have the makings of the best back line in SL by some distance. Which is a development in the right direction.
If anything there are real positives to take into preseason whatever happens next week.
