Leeds and Saints rivalry was at one point an echo of the boxing matches between big rivals Sugar Ray Robinson and Jake Lamotta. Everyone wanted to have front seats because you knew you was going to get a closely fought match.
Nothing like that this year.
All week I had a feeling that Leeds would run away with it as I’m sure many other fans did. I was nearly right with only the other team running away with it.

Lancashire is an administrative county and greater manchester and Merseyside are metropolitan counties formed over the administrative county. So Merseyside and large parts of Gtr Manchester in theory are both in the boundries of the old Lancahsire but not in the new.

I think maybe your team thought that too and consequently were taken by surprise when we were livelier than our previous form suggested. Saints certainly took most Saints' fans by surprise. I expected a drubbing at the hands of Leeds. |
