| I think JJB is a great person and probably good for dressing room morale when he was playing, but an important role like assistant coach ?

He was a major part of the unrest start of last season to get Furner out. Whether that was right reasons or wrong, not for me to say, but I would seriously question him good for morale.

Its quite telling how this jobs for the boys thing coincides so much with our downfall over the last few seasons. Far too much putting selves above side going on. Made even worse with JJB appointment is him having his tag along with him for entertainment now in Simmons. An awful presenter and not entertaining in the least, but comes as a partnership with JJB.

Getting Furner out was the right thing to do. We would have got relegated with him in charge still I'm sure of it. Many of the players didnt like him.

Or it could be some of the players didn`t like him because he was telling them some home truths that they were not good enough and needed shipping on.
Sinfield, JJB and maybe others in the clique might have seen their crown slipping and forced Furner out who knows?
But for me having all your buddies together and handing out contracts and jobs is a sure fire way to cause a split in the camp.
Shaun Wane should have been given the gig when Furner left but 2 big egos working together was never going to happen.

' good for morale ' that's how I've perceived him over there years . I've never met him ,but I've seen him cope with long term injuries I've liked his media stuff ,he's always MC at functions . You obviously know much more about him and the club itself than me I only sit in the stands and go home after games. I do like your posts and info . Didnt know he was a workplace stirrer

Best menu for morale is a winning team, if not a good performance despite the result. Sunday was neither. JJB didn't like the Furner approach so he had a word with his best mate and Furner was gone. Is this the way to return the club to former glories I think not. Sinfield then simply appointed a sooty like figure to front up the coaching set up. The management is currently a "jobs for the boys" set up. Drastic and urgent action is required.

I disagree - Furner came into a sloppy culture which he quite rightly tried to upgrade into a degree of professionalism. The egos of the players would not have responded well I'm sure but that is what was needed - a big kick up the backside and if the likes of JJB didn't like then they should have been told FIFO and coach backed.
I guarantee - and I go back to him again - Murray would never have accepted that and I'm sure he encountered exactly the same challenges when he came but they players both respected him and knew which side the management were on.
JJB has been a great servant to the club but this is elite sport where small margins make a big difference having the very best everywhere - which is what Leeds were and should be about - is critical. This is where the club has lost focus - it appears now to accept second best.
Ruthlessness is essential - elite anything is brutal and only those with a single mind to win - win.

You say that after the event. The problem is those issues started because of the unrest caused by what he wanted to achieve, rather than his skill set. Had he had the support, and I am not saying it would have been the case, but it just might have been a little different.

So it was wrong to sack Furner then? I have no doubt he isnt to blame for our demise but he had to go to keep us up imo.

I know where you're coming from but it was never going to work. The squad needs a major overhaul but Furner lost the trust of the players early including the players we need to keep.

| Forgot to post on this. Simply we got it all wrong against FC. They were big powerful and dominated us. Lui was so greedy and Gale hardly got involved. Our pack looked like U16’s vs Open age. I called FC having a very good year anyway but I just hoped that the occasion helped us. Our wingers are nowhere near aswell. It was a hard watch and I travelled all the way from Plymouth aswell haha. It’s round 1 but if we go in with the same attitude the Giants will stuff us. They looked good against the Dragons. Gale needs to step up and in a bit. Move Lui out of the way.

Yes it was - if he had been supported the players would have towed the line and things would have improved. Whilst ever players see a chink in the coaches position they are going to drive a wedge straight in its a deflection technique. The players know its easier to sack one person than half a squad. Sinfield knew the squad was weak, he tried to offload half them - Furner was/is a better coach than Agar so he would have got sufficient wins to keep Leeds up. Ask Alex Ferguson who was boss and what happened to dissenting players - if you allow the players to rule the roost you will never have any continuity or progress - as we have seen.
