| Quote: G1 "Went to see it in Florida this year with the wife and young un (at the insistence of wife and young un). Expected to be bored stiff but was absolutely blown away. Fantastic.
Although it cost me a lot of my earned net pay (after PAYE) it was well worth it.
If I can justify the outlay again after paying my taxes and outgoings etc I will consider going to Leeds to see it.'"
We've been to see a number of their shows in Las Vegas, all were fantastic.
But now we're both poor pensioners we can only afford to see Elton John when he "opens" the new Arena. Except that The Boss has now b*ggered that up.

| I read about the leeds arena plans over 10 years ago when I use to go watch ice hockey in hull, there was an article in the ice hockey magazine at the time that leeds had bought a franchise to play in the arena, lee sharpe wearing leeds lightning top,
having seen pictures its a little disappointing there isn't any plans for other sports like ice hockey and basketball to be played their, although just as a music venue it is quite smart

That was a consicious decision. Sports like Ice Hockey and basketball haven't taken off and there's no real demand for them in Leeds.
Therefore they decided to focus it more as a theatre and, as I understand, the accoustics and logistics are all the more better for that.

| For the record I paid £130 (£65 each) for Bruce Springsteen Tickets. I queued up from the crack of dawn on a cold (rlit was too cold to queue up according to this probably tax paying bandrl) February morning outside the town hall. If you want proof that the unemployed can get themselves out of bed on a morning then just rlwatch this videorl thirteen minutes in.
Let the nit picking commence..

Good for you lad.
Proof that Britain isn't broken. You can get yoursen' out of bed to spend your benefits on concert tickets.
Almost makes me willing to volunteer to pay additional, voluntary taxes.
Ignore my jibes fella. I'm just jealous I couldn't afford the outlay to go, what with paying my way in life etc.

What a hero.
You've changed my mind and put me in my place, I've only been getting my out of bed, rain or shine, for the last forty-odd years.

When the LCC starting looking at arenas there were many thoughts about what to build. The original concept was to be the standard bowl configuration which would have supported ice hockey. The new arena though was built for acoustics and performance in mind. However i do believe it could be used for basketball quiet easily with floor seating.
As for the ice hockey idea, there are plans in place to build an ice skating rink on the car parks of Elland road. Its been mooted to be between 1000 and 3000 seats with the ability to expand should it be required. I think that would be more than big enough should we create a franchise
