| Quote: Juan Cornetto "But in your opinion the coach can be judged on this short period!
If you give credit to GH for the recruitment of the academy players that have formed the backbone of our recent successful side you have to also be critical of GH for a lack of succession planning that is one of our current problems.'"
I tought you said on the other thread "ITS THE PLAYERS...STUPID"

| Quote: Rhino Bucs "McD needs to go. Think the rot set in along time ago and it is not all his fault but these players are not playing for him for one reason or another.
Decisions made today for 2012
Senior, Kirke, Bailey, Kylie, Webb, Ali to go at end of season.
Watkins to centre
BJB/Hardaker Full back/wing
Ambler back from Quins
Singleton/Amor. Brought in (Decision on Amor to be made this season) If not up to it let the lad go for 2012
GH to start recruitment NOW! for 2012 and not wait for a jolly to Aus at the end of the season. Substantial amount of salary cap released.
Start grooming youngsters to replace Danny, Kev and Robbie NOW.
Feel better for that knee jerk.'"
Would not get rid of Bailey, but the rest should go, along with Cross
As for youngsters to fill the void of McGuire, Burrows and Sinfield. Which youngsters to you have in mind because having watched the reserves last night in the curtain raiser, none of the halves look upto the mark.
Brian Mcdermott, James Lowes and Damien Gibson all need to go before this Easter. Also Barrie Mcdermott should be booted out of is role as Head of Youth Development.

| Groom or to be recruited.
We've got 4 years for Sinfield. Young lad to be recruited could be 16yrs
Would suggest Danny will get another contract and that gives us 2/3yrs. Young lad could be to be recruited poss 16yrs
Burrow needs to be addressed asap. Thought we got a young lad from Wigan. How's he going? If not up to it then get looking and recruit short term competition.

| Anyone know of a coach with excellent pedigree who is out of work, and lives locally?
Someone who knows Brian Mac and James Lowes very well?
Someone who could come and advise/help/coach???
I've heard a rumour......

| All the players looked very glum and serious at Kirkstall this morning, especially JJB, not his usual exuberant self. More interesting was that Uncle Gary was down at Kirkstall to be at least part of a "talk" with the players this morning. I've never seen Hetherington there for that kind of thing before.

The fact that he referred to Leeds as "we" on the red button show last night confirms it IMHO. I don't think it's the right thing to do (unless it's purely for the rest of this season) but we do need to improve the quality of the coaching as well as the stuff we do on game day.

| Quote: Maverick Rhino "Hang on, a certain poster on here last night was demanding GH sack himself!'"
This is a debate - whilst I respect Gareth's views doesn't mean they are correct or I agree with them - or him mine.
I think the club has now exhausted Hetherington's talents and some new ideas/talents are required.
If you want to see what happens when the bosses get it wrong look at Bradford - they were an equally dominant team in their era and look now. Anyone who thinks this cannot happen to Leeds is nieve.

| Quote: G1 "You have absolutely no say as to who the chief exec of this club is.'"
I would suggest as major stakeholders we have a massive say in who the chief exec is - it works out in the commercial world?
You cannot continue to make mistakes of the nature Hetherington has recently and expect to continue.
Much easier to make a success when you have almost unlimited funds i.e. Caddick, given the economic climate I wonder if the financial state of the club is quite as bouyant?
If Leeds take a tax hit - which seems likely now - on the scale that people are talking about that would have very serious implications to the long term stability of the club.
Where the alarm bells started ringing for me was McClennan's contract dealings, McClennan was far too clever and left Hetherington exposed big style.

| Debating coaches and players and tactics is one thing.
Throwing in a serious theory that GH, part owner with a track record to beat anyone else in the game over the last 10 years, sacks himself is a waste of everyones time because it is never going to happen.
Its a private company and we ain't stakeholders, we are paying punters. Nothing more. The good thing about that is not that we can drive out GH, but that if crowds and therefore revenue fall as a result of the drivel served up so far this season, he might act sooner than expected in correcting his dreadful coaching appointments.

| The only way anyone can have a say in who is CEO is by buying the club, and I don't see that happening anytime soon.

| Quote: Keith Swiftcorn "I appreciate the current coaching regime is going to cop plenty of stick over the next week after this latest overwhelmingly disappointing result and poor, error-strewn, indisciplined performance tonight. However, a few points in mitigation are in order...
[list1. Despite winning SL in 2009, it papered over a number of cracks which were already becoming evident.
2. GH was either being naive, or more likely economical with the truth when claiming Leeds had the best squad ever in 2010.
3. Re-signing the so-called 'Magnificent Seven' was a huge mistake, though thankfully two of them changed their minds and buggered off.
4. The CC Final of 2010 was a clear indication of a squad well past it's sell by date.
5. Who is Eastwood's replacement again?
6. Bluey saw the writing on the wall, hence his premature departure.
7. The loyalty shown towards Leeds players associated with past success needs to end now. They've earned sufficient rewards already. It's time to move on.
8. The return of Peacock and McGuire to turn it all around is not guaranteed.
9. Completion rates and errors are important.
10. The time has arrived to ditch this so-called expansive and entertaining style of CEO-inspired bollox.[/list
And finally... yes... the current coaching regime may also need replacing... to be replaced by one which actually coaches the team rather than being coached by the CEO!'"
There's some real feeling there. I agree in some ways regarding playing style etc.

| Quote: G1 "However, the right man is at the helm and he's doing a fantastic job. Look around the league. Ignore, if you will, what is happening on the field at this time. These things are fleeting and cyclical. Which club is in better shape?'"
This is the bit that's hard for some to accept. You can't stay out infront all the time with the salary cap in place - it's impossible. Saints are the nearest comparrison to us , but it's easy to forget they haven't won the title since 2006, and won nothing for 2 years. It's now a question of "do we trust the guy in charge to realise what needs doing, and to then go ahead and do it right"?
We may have to take this season like a kick in the nuts and live with it.

| In these days of salary cap equality, a certain amount of fall & decline is inevitable.
But it is relative and what for Leeds is decline for others would be triumph.
Leeds will as usual finish the season stronger than they started especially with star players returning.
But you have been spoiled with 3 straight GF wins and I feel you will come to regard that as a golden era to be looked back on fondly.
It's not the norm and that golden era has passed but of course Leeds will remain a great club who will always be in contention and always respected.
