| Quote: Puig-Aubert "The intention was the players who had played best in SL (bearing in mind the limitations on clubs) but happy for people to interpret it how they wish.'"
In that case, I'll go with the intention:
Kris Radlinski - Wigan
Jason Robinson - Wigan
Matt Gidley - St Helens
Adam Mogg - Les Catalans
Lesley Vainikolo - Bradford
Scott Hill - Harlequins
Lee Briers - Warrington
Stuart Fielden - Wigan/Bradford
Kieron Cunningham - St Helens
Darren Britt - St Helens
David Solomona - Wakefield/Bradford
Jason Croker - Les Catalans
Peter Gill - London Broncos
Mark McLinden - London Broncos/Harlequins
Stephen Kearney - Hull FC
Michael Wainwright - Warrington/Salford
Michael Vella - Hull KR

Darren Britt is an interesting shout. In a similar vein I'd have liked to include Derek McVey but didn't want to lose Lyon, Cunningham or Pryce.

I thought he was the pillar around which the Saints side of that era was built, and one of the best props of his generation. Gidley over Lyon was just personal preference and Pryce/Sculthorpe lost out to Cunningham.
I struggled with the back rowers and the bench to be honest, having gone for all first choices in the backs and front row which exhausted the Saints, Wigan and Bradford quotas.

Didn't Briers play for saints though, so you may have to get a new 6

Of course. Good call. It'll create a spot for Sean Rudder.

I think you may be right, a handful of appearances in 97 before moving on to Warrington...
In which case I'll go for Richard Horne - Hull FC at 7 to partner Scott Hill.

You certainy are a free spirit Gareth. Your choice of Lauititi proves that.
I respect your opinion. But have you kept a close watch on him during matches. He is often lacking condition when he plays. His commitment is less than absolute in most games. However he seems to move up a gear for play offs and Grand Finals. Which tells me he can do it when he wants.
Unfortunately he doesn't do it often enough for me.

Nostalgic Les'" I love to watch him play.
Yes, he can have days when he doesn't show but he's an overseas player who has been at the same English club for six seasons, playing 4 Grand Finals and winning three.
Its' the stuff of legends. He can validly lay claim to being our greatest ever overseas player and he has done things on the pitch that few others could do.
I think you do him a dis-service. I think we'll look back on him as reverently and nostalgically as previous generations did with Eric Harris and Arthur Clue etc.

| What a joke!
How any of the follwoing players can be among the GREATEST Super League players is beyond me. Most people are too busy trying to show their 'knowledge' of the past rather than been realistic:
Mark Carroll
Dean Sampson
Adam Mogg
Scott Hill
Stephen Myler
Eorl Carbtree
Henry Fa'afilli
Clint Newton
Paul King
Joe Westerman
Whilst i understand the criteria means you have to spread it about a bit some of the above are a joke!
I will post mine later - too busy at the moment.

Looks to be quite a few representative appearances, dream team selections and leading try scorer awards amongst that lot and 6 of them are current Superleague players.
Your understanding of the criteria is great. It'll be interesting to see your 17 players without any also rans in it.
