Thackrey has been shocking the last couple of weeks. In normal circumstances TS would be justified in dropping him. But, given the fact that he has only 1 out and out prop in the 18 his decsion is bordering on the insane.

Has anyone considered that when Smith did this to Thackray at the beginning of the year it really galvanised his play?

As Joihn DH has said, Thacks form has dropped off the last few weeks. Maybe, just maybe, Smith knows his players better than the knee jerkers on here. Maybe Smith realises that Thacks need tough love and this may just spur him back to some decent form in time for trhe playoffs?

What were your comments when Smith dropped McDermot for the 2005 Challenge Cup Final and went with only two props?

I never understand what Bailey offers to the team. IMO opinion he makes less metres than he should, never offloads and his disipline at times is shocking.

Thats different though, the cup final is a 1 off game. If dropping Thackray gives him a kick up the backside and gets him playing better its probably the right thing to do. Plus McDermott was better than Thackray.

Everyone knows that spending 5 days a week watching them in training and spending most evenings reviewing footage of their performances with your other coaching staff is a poor substitute for watching the game once, live and maybe, some weeks, a re-run on Sky.
