Yes, 1983/4. Laurie was due to play in the CC semi at Swinton but half an hour before kickoff an announcement was made summoning Roy Dickinson (who I was infront of in the crowd) to the changeing room.
Laurie wasn't seen again at Leeds until long after a certain scrum half had departed the club.
The others came over in 84/5 season

I know the story, thats right, webb came for his second stint with the other 10. Steve Martin was half back in webbs first season before going on to play alongside micheal caine in dirty rotten scoundrels.

Slippery turn up with his missus and about 16 kids, including twins who are both playing 1st grade in the NRL, I felt old as F*ck when i read that.

| Morris was 87-88 IIRC? Certainly not 84-85. A number of those lads signed in the mid 80s came straight from the Qld Cup when it was a very good competition in its own right, with the Broncos not having formed and a lot of Qld players staying up here despite offers to move to Sydney. Terry Webb was in that category.
What those sorts of players showed was how deep the Aussie player base was - Webb would never have got within a million miles of the NSWRL but was a regular in England for some time - he played stand off, Hooker, Loose forward, second row and even prop. He could do that just because he did the basics pretty well.

| I suppose if Delaney stayed in the UK for long enough he'd qualify for England on residency grounds. He says clutching at straws...
