By then, Kevin will have lead the trodden masses of this country in glorious revolution and be installed as Life President of The People's Republic.

| To hell with the trodden masses in Thatcher's - I mean Cameron's Britain, what about the down-trodden masses.
I can see it now Citizen Sinfield - Power to the people.

So in addition to making the unproven allegation that Sinfield will "only" play at stand off you now claiming that he is our unofficial coach? If so are you moving your "keyboard coaching " criticisms onto Sinfield's shoulders?

| Hadn't you already positioned your tanks on that lawn earlier when saying the coach's job is all but done once the whistle goes?
Quote: Juan Cornetto " Once we get to kick off time the coaches work is all but done. They have prepared their teams both physically and mentally, they have rehed their games plans and tactics and they have motivated their charges. Once the whistle blows it is down to the players to do their bit with very little more the coaches can do......as in the regular rounds.'"
So who coaches the team once the game has kicked off ? Who decides on substitutions generally and in particular (if there is a set plan in place) who reacts if an injury occurs that forces a replacement ? What happens if plan A is not working - Do we just plough on regardless ?
Quote: Juan Cornetto " If the players fail to deliver or were beaten by a better side on the day or were unlucky does not mean total failure. Neither does it have to mean the coaches were at fault. '"
For a team like Leeds, St Helens, Wigan or Warrington losing in a sudden death cup competition probably means failure. Be it partial or total it all amounts to the same thing - while it may have been competitive and/or to be expected it's not a successful outcome.
Quote: Juan Cornetto " Maybe because on these odd occassions they are swamped by your negative default setting.'"
Maybe so but who is it that thinks I should be cutting some people some slack ? Do I get any from you - no - and that's how it should be.

| Losing in a final is viewed as failure at the time, but after the hurt has dulled, it is looked upon as a measure of sucess. Being second of all the competitors eligible for a competition is no mean feat.
Referring back to your point about other sports, I saw plenty of examples of people at the Olympics genuinely ecstatic about getting a bronze or silver medal. I guess the context of coming second in an 8 man race is different to coming second in a 2 man final, which is why it will take some time to reflect on the actual success, because the pain of defeat is so strong.

| How many competitors enter an event at the Olympics?
I could perhaps try to understand a certain pride at finishing second in an Olympics given the size of the entry but I'd still be surprised if the elite athletes are genuinely satisfied with anything below gold.

| Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanyways, back on topic. Any other rumours out there? Now the season is over and Gawwy will be wanting to push season ticket sales, when can we expect to hear of any signings?

It depends on where u come from. Some elite athletes will be dissapointed to make gold, but if you are not expected to even final and sneak a medal, you would be chuffed

So you are backing up tvoc's argument? Those that don't expect to reach/achieve something, are happy when they do regardless of result. Those that strive and expect to achieve are dissapointed when they don't, and consider failure.
I agree with tvoc on that. Wigan, Saints, Leeds, Warrington, and even Hull, with their ambition, goals, and finances, should consider a season without silverware a season of not achieving their goals, i.e. failure.

Yes in principal if you are a top athletes then not winning initially will be failure. With a bit of time it may not be but at the time yes.
When I competed in my sport I went into a World Cup meet top seed. Did a personal best and came second. Was gutted and saw this as failure at the time

I was in Glasshoughton earlier today and the Pontefract & Castleford Express are running a story that Leeds are in talks to bring in Mike Ford and a South African union player called Joost Van der Westhuizen.

That's odd. I was in Wigan earlier and all the talk was about us getting a lad from Welsh RU called Lewis Jones.

The YEP should be carrying an update of the position of Rhinos ins and outs sometime this week. As you say GH will want some publicity to help season ticket sales albeit that we are Grand Final winners again! The waiting should soon be over (we hope!).

I can't see him having much of a career in league.

Quote: G1 "I have not accepted that Noble said the things you claimed he said. I've said you're making it up. Could I be any clearer?'"

The GB coach rang all 24 players in his squad to inform them of their selection - and also called Sinfield and Paul Deacon to explain why they had been left out.
Noble said today: "Kevin came very, very close. I spoke to Kevin on the phone and I've said to him he is not completely out of the running.
"He will be very disappointed, but he spoke to me at length at the back end of the last series and said what position he would like to play.
"I didn't want him hanging around and not playing a position and just hanging on for a reserve spot like he did last series.
"You pick players with a view to playing them in their own positions. It was one of the hardest decisions we've had to make leaving him out, along with Paul Deacon
