| Yes, this has had an air of inevitability about it.
Gale is 33, had a poor season, stupid disciplinary issues and has become injury prone.
We go and sign an overseas 6 and 7, which has clearly put his nose out of joint.
I think this was inevitable.
I'm excited to see Sezer and Austin together in the halves. Looks like a proper pairing.
I don't agree that we need to sign another HB.
We have Walker coming back and Fusitua, so are not so reliant on Myler at FB, so he will be the first choice HB cover.
We also have Johnson coming through, which means we could use him or Leeming if desperate.
Not many teams have 3 quality out and out HB's. They have cover.
The important bit is that this releases cap space.
We must go and sign a British prop now.
If we do that, I think we have done excellent business.

| Never liked Gale at Cas, gave him a chance at Leeds and he’s shown his true colours. Spoilt little $hit who’s injury prone. See ya

Yep, agree. Wonder if we've the cap space to pay off Bodene, say, and go for an overseas prop.
Have to see how the 3 halves' seasons pan out but we're any to sustain a longer term injury you'd have to suspect it might be Gale.

| Quote: KaeruJim "So which top line half back who won’t ruin our shape is going to come to play second fiddle to Sezer and Austin?
Wouldn’t most SL clubs be in trouble if they lost their best half back?
I agree I don’t much like our Plan B options but sounds like Gale needed to move on. It is what it is. Leeds Live mentioning rightly that there are a few players in need of contract upgrades this year too - not least of which Harry Newman. I’m hoping he is actually done hut they’re waiting for a good PR moment to announce it.
To be honest mate I’m not sure what domestic options we have at either prop or half back at this stage.'"
We dont need a top line half back as cover but we need someone to cover. Last year we supposedly had McLelland as cover but injuries destroyed our half backs all season. Our current position now means we have no cover at all and if in the early weeks one of our starting halves go down then we are in trouble.
Sorry folks but Myler in the halves doesnt work like Sutcliffe doesnt. If they are our options then we wont function well enough.
Our current junior options are Kai Morgan who is very poor and Jack Sinfield who is very young at just turned 17 and for me is potentially a better 9 than half back. There is no 20 yr old half like McLelland to cover.
We need a 3rd half back desperately and needs to be a priority.

We'll see mate.
Interesting to see if there's anything in the Will Pryce rumour.
But Gale was never going to sit in the stands waiting for an injury to Sezer or Austin.
If we get Walker back fit, Myler will be back up HB in case of injury.
Obviously not ideal, but adequate.

'" Given how little our first choice half backs played last season, and the level of injuries under the current rules across the league, having three half backs made complete sense. If all three happened to be fit I'd have one on the bench instead of Dwyer.
Moreover the club's assumption wasn't that Sezer and Austin were the new half back pairing. It was more likely to be Sezer and Gale.
As it is we have now left ourselves totally reliant on the two we have left both clicking and staying injury free. We are really, really exposed and it's really undermined how next season could pan out for us.

I think it depends on who they are covering. If Austin is injured can see myler or sutcliffe covering ok. Seizer is the main playmaker if he gets injured we have some issues.
I cannot see us getting a prop anyway not many British top props out there. Unless the doggies are still having issues with Thompson

| If he has indeed fallen out with the club, and the rest of the dressing room then it's the right decision

| We’re now both light for cover in the halves as well as front row. The one that’s slightly more pressing for me is front row, I’ll see your Myler starting in the halves and raise you a Bodene Thompson starting at prop.

Surely there was more chance of gale and sezer not clicking than the former Canberra pairing of Austin and Sezer?

| Weve now lost 3 half backs from last year and signed 2. That doesnt add up to me but lets see what happens.

| Wow, can’t see any chance of agreement from opposing views on this one!
IMO despite any statements made by Agar or for that matter GH it was always going to be Sezer and Austin as first choice starting hub’s. Can’t imagine Austin being sold on being a utility hub one week centre next the loose forward, followed by a spell on the wing or fb. Does not sit right with me and as pointed out they were a starting pair for Canberra a few years back. Would Gale be happy as 2nd choice warming the bench? I don’t think so and could not blame him so best all round to go to Hull before issues start in the dressing room. Gale has been good for us just a pity he was not 3/4 years younger when we signed him.
We might sign a project prop but I would not be surprised if we keep the cap space for upgrading someone’s contract.
It’s going to be interesting as so many are in their last year and although not all will be retained cap space will be reduced upgrading the youngsters contracts. It’s never a dull moment and who would want the job of trying to keep not only players happy but also fans.
One last thought, all of this Gale business has shifted the limelight from Agars position and who comes in to replace him when he moves upstairs.

Im not sure its as simple as that, how often did we have a first choice half back pairing on the field last year?
We had an injury situation that I can’t remember ever having last year, and still made the semis by the way!
With a bit more luck we won’t need to use our ‘backups’ for most of the year like last

Sorry Chris we cant rely on luck. We need to cover every eventulality. Last week we looked as string as we have in years in the halves now we are 1 injury from the team being massively weakened in my opinion.
