Didn’t they win the League at a canter in 2011, and thought they were nailed on to reach the Grand Final? Leeds again had other ideas.

| Warrington tho, if you was a coach, is a job you would walk over to get. Money aplenty. You would believe you could get it right and have a long period of success
They are Leeds of the late 80s early 90s. Promise much, spend big, achieve little, get ridiculed everywhere you go. God Wire fans must hate the "its always your year" song like we hated "what a waste of money".
The fact is though somebody will get it right at Warrington if the owner keeps coughing up at some point. They are close most years, they have good players but it just hasnt happened yet in Super League. They have had success in the cup of course.
Not sure if Powell is heading there or not but i wouldnt blame him for doing so.

They don’t like it when you call them Leeds of the 80’s/90’s

Agreed though by hot seat I didn't mean there's been a rapid turnover. I was more alluding to pressure and expectation.
Wire have done it all in the last decade - barring the holy grail of a grand final win. Powell's still chasing a half decent performance in a final. Is that a winning combo? We'll see. If it wasn't inevitable that a Powell led successful Warrington side would be at cost to ourselves, it's actually something I'd like to see. I still have immense respect for Daryl from his Leeds days, regardless of my tongue in cheek sig

| It'll be interesting to see how he does. He's essentially swapped one squad in need of a transitional period for another. The major difference being one has the funds to be able to manage it.

During 1985 - 1995 wish we had won 4 challenge cups. In salary cap ear big spending can only get you so far, without the cap and money to burn we won nothing.

2011-2013 peak wire wasn't it? that was their window which they seriously blew. didn't even make the 2011 final despite dominating the season. 2012 and 2013 led both finals going into the second half.
it would be a major achievement getting Warrington over the line in a GF and i can see why it would be majorly appealing to Powell to go there.

| I think Powell would win things at any side that spent money.
He's done a fantastic job at Cas with very little in terms of funding.

Big Jack used to put quite a bit of his cash into them, maybe his descendants are a bit more "frugal"
Wasnt there a rumour of some boardroom unrest the other year wrt money being promised and pulled? I seem to remember there was.
Cas never built on the sucesses they enjoyed since Powell took over and dragged them up by the boot straps, its a shame they haven't been able to kick on and progress off the field as well as they have on it as that's where the money is.
Big overhaul incoming and too many with their head in the sand darn't lane to see it coming.
