| I have a season ticket and for the sake of the game’s and our club’s future would be happy to waive the cost of this in exchange for watching Rhinos matches played behind closed doors on tv. Not interested in watching other clubs’ matches.

| Quote: Marty Grrrrrrrrrr! "I'd pay to watch Leeds but as a season ticket holder i shouldnt have to pay for the home games, tho how Sky would know im a season ticket holder god knows. I would have no interest in paying to watch other games.
I dont really watch games on Sky anymore cos the coverage and commentary is so poor. I dread to think what this per pay views would be like if they happen.
I cant see us being back for a long time. If France and Canada have banned sporting events til Sept and weve had more deaths than either of those i can only see us going down a similar path.
Sport without fans will be pretty pointless in truth to me.'"
Season ticket holders will get their money back, or a season ticket for 2021. Streaming the game at home isn’t an acceptable replacement for a season ticket.

| Fulfilling the sky contract has to be the priority. If the only way to do that is play behind closed doors, so be it.

| Given that there is now an influx of money from govt, the potential pressure eases a little. Season tickets could be rolled over to next year with a "top up" charge to reset them based on the number of games already played. This then leaves a revenue hole this year, which could be partially filled with the govt funding. Personally, I'd write this season off, mothball the clubs and look to prepare for next year.
Any funding from RFL must have strings attached about the future structure of the game. We can't just hand out cash to be used this season when it has to be paid back. This is a loan not a grant...

| If clubs roll this years season ticket money over to next year clubs would have little income again next year and there will be no government bail out next season. It would cripple clubs.
Going to be some tough decisions to take by everyone including ourselves i think. Would you carry on paying this year to watch games potentially on TV or a streamed version by clubs and then pay again next year?
That, to me, is what it will come down to im afraid

| We may not have a choice. We have a TV contract to fulfill with sky, and that is most club's primary source of income, and with TV negotiations ongoing we may have to take a few risks in order to make sure we have a game at the end of this.

There would always be rugby league, they can't take that away from us. Just might have to go back to semi pro.....!
Would not b be the world's worst thing for sport. Had been so over sanitized that has gone way down as spectacle......

Sky pay us for the rights to show games on TV - we make money.
Sky sell advertising and subscriptions to watch sport - they make money.
If you don't like the basics of money in sport then I fear Rugby League is not the sport for you.

| The game's a long way off being played at all, closed doors or otherwise. I've not heard or read anyone able to propose a coherent strategy on how health, liability and financial issues can all be overcome. Far as I can figure, no sport has, as yet, even got to the stage of even putting forward to government a plan for consideration. Just saying.

That seems to be the standard response to anyone who questions anything....

Probably because it's true. Seriously, if you can develop a cogent argument please do but if you can't extend beyond "boo hiss Sky are greedy" then it's probably not worth the time.

What's a' cogent argument'? Not sure I can do that!!
I know what you're saying though. Koukash alluded to RFL just jumping to sky's commands, and that we could advance the sport by looking elsewhere.
Pretty successful guy and I think he knew what he was talking about. Don't think he realised how badly the sport is governed though. Lots of professions are not moving back, but forwards, and looking to work in new ways. If someone like Eddie Hearn gets involved we'd be looking at a breakaway league ala darts, and just look at what they've achieved for a pub game!!

| The perilous state may be a combination of the effect on Leeds who are probably haemorrhaging cash at this stage, but also the fact that if 5 /6 other clubs go to the wall there may be no professional RL at the other end of the tunnel.
