Quote christopher="christopher"Which would surely be an illegal breach of employment contract, it is not his fault he has had a couple of serious injuries - baring in mind they were both different injuries (I think?)
Didn't Ben Currie go through similar at Warrington and they stuck by him.'"
Don’t see how it would be a breach of a contract he would have signed?
I don’t think that’s possible however as what you can put in a contract is controlled in some fashion at least by the RFL and I doubt there’s a contract like that for full time players.
From reading the Mason/Hudds tribunal notes I think it was either Fielden or Mason himself who was on a contract which would be increased if he played more games, so there’s obviously scope for some kind of salary vs appearances element in there.
Personally I think we should stick with Ward, I think it sends the wrong message at a time when we need to try and regain some standing in terms of reliability given that we’ve just sacked a load of coaches and moved on players such as Lolohea, Garbutt etc not to mention the Golding issue.
That doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be a reduction in contract value for Ward though.
