An outstanding servant & scorer/creator of genuine World Class tries plus he's easily pound for pound the hardest man in the SL era it's been a pleasure to watch him all these years.
The timing is right but im chuffed he's staying in a jnrvCoaching role he's done some very good work at that level & long may it continue.

Nevermind the tries, here's his best moment

Lauaki probably still has nightmares about him.

Probably my favourite all time player, would have liked to see him stay another year, but maybe his injury has convinced him otherwise.

Lets hope we finally covert one our legendary players into a coach

I preferred the scrap at Headingley when Rob had Thackray pinned down and was punching him with his tiny fists of fury.

Oddly, one of my other favourite moments from Rob was against Hull, too. In 2015 at the KC, in the 'game of two halves', he scored our last try with one of the cheekiest bits of skill.

My favourite though is his famous Old Trafford try, especially the side on replay, as it looks like half the Saints' team are trying to catch him on his way to the line.

Great servant for Leeds. I was hoping that he would go on another season. When fit his form has been good enough, but understand him wanting to quit at the top. Not the complete 7 for me but brilliant at broken field running, an underused kicking game that was always at its best at Old Trafford. As brave as anyone, a real match winner and will be sorely missed. Glad that he is staying at the club.

Rob is one of my all time favorites and can also justifiably be classed as one of the very great rugby league players with that all too rare ability to change the momentum and result of a game. He possessed great speed off the mark, limitless guts, a good eye for an opening and a superb tackling technique.

He overcame his physical disadvantage with skill and a tremendous attitude that saw him master two positions to international standards. I wish him good fortune in his new career where he will be an excellent role model for the younger players.

It would be fitting for Rob and Danny to go out on high with another trophy so let's hope this motivates the team to achieve this.

Shame his retirement is being overshadowed by some young kid that doesn't want to play for us.

The only bad thing about the 2011 try vs Sts is that Phil Clarke was just getting into a monologue - albeit praising Leeds - and it took him a second to realise what was going on and shut up. What I think's underestimated isn't the first step and duck under the frontline defenders, but the move he puts on the fullback without slowing down. Its so good it also slows a couple of chasing players.

Brilliant career, sad its likely to end before he hits 200 tries for Leeds, but given his stature almost certainly the right decision long term.

What a fabulous player he's been. The ability to do things no other player could do and definitely a big game performer. Great defender as well. Not much to say really that hasn't been said - legend.

Had a bit of a tear when I saw it confirmed yesterday.

This generation of players has given everything to Leeds and the cause for so long and this man was right at the vanguard of it.

Great footwork, amazing acceleration and speed and of course the heart of a lion meant that he often was able to wrestle back momentum in a game almost single handedly.

By all accounts a great guy of the field and enough about him to back himself in this new chapter of his life, he leaves with not only my admiration but my thanks for whatever little that is, we may never see his like again.

Quality player, always found myself out of my seat shouting 'Get hold of him!!!" whenever he had the ball, he caused all sorts of mayhem with our defence. That try will take some beating as the best Grand Final try ever (although naturally I preferred Gleeson's second try the year before icon_wink.gif ). Best of luck Beep beep!

Says in the YEP that whilst he has a slim chance of making the SF next week as he's ahead of schedule it's unlikely he'll make it for that. Week 1 or 2 of the 8's look likely then which would at least get him some game time IF we do make Wembley.
