| We need him at the club in a coaching role of some sort. He'd be absolutely wasted in a suit, he can always do that later in life, get him signed up as assistant coach with a view to becoming gaffer in a year or two time.

icons077e_files/5454-3678dentheman-msnicons.jpg Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.:icons077e_files/5454-3678dentheman-msnicons.jpg |

I would make him head of youth development and give him a free reign reporting to GH he can recruit the coaches and scouts he wants design a structure he wants etc - no influence from McDermott.
If his career isn't an inspiration to a young player nothing ever will be - if ever you wanted a role model as to how a career in RL can enhance the quality of your life it is him.

Great idea that. The youth should be seperated from McDermott anyway, who has took it backwards, or any other coach who is appointed. What a great inspiration for Juniors to be overseen by Sinfield.
Would still like him one day in GH job, but that would work great for now.

If I were Sinfield I would hope coaching Leeds would be well down the list as it could only taint his legacy. He'd start off with warm and fuzzy feelings but if results aren't delivered it would only be a matter of time before the knives were out.'"
If he wanted to go into coaching - and everything I've read from him would suggest he doesn't, at least not right now - then it needs to be with a bunch of players that he has no previous history with.
One of the issues with Powell was that he struggled to command the authority and professional distance required to coach a bunch of blokes he'd been playing alongside just months previously. Anyone who has been promoted at work knows how difficult it can be to go from being "one of the lads" to "the boss".

Agree with that. I think it is why Peacock distanced himself from the club, he will be back one day in some capacity.

| Some would argue the professional manner in which Sinfield operated he was The Boss anyway.

Why not?
He's got probably 45-50 years of his life in front of him. With the best will in the world, he's not going to have earned enough from RL to be able to live off his career earnings no matter how well he's invested it.

In theory yes however Sinfield could be an exception to that rule as he was almost like a coach when he played and took training sessions and did the talking in the dressing room.

True, I'd also say that even if he did have enough money (which he won't) he doesn't strike me as the type who'd be happy just doing nothing and would want to find a job to challenge him.

He actually didn't want to work for GH. Thought it would be a nightmare.
