Trust me.

Everyone's knees will calm down when Leeds put a string of easy wins together and climb the table to a position of semi-respectability and an assault on the play-offs.

He's right though.

Leeds will string a few runs together and people on here will over react exactly as they do to defeats.

Like proclaiming we have the best young centre pairing around and Lunt is as good as Buderus etc etc.

The truth lies somehwere between the two exteremes. All is not well in the camp, but its not as bad, and does not needs as much major surgery as some on here would think. Some freshening up here and there, on and off the pitch as we will regain WCC form and be a match for anyone

Apologies for not posting the link - have been too lazy to work out how over the past 5 years or so....

Anyway, having thought a bit more, I think this is a good bit of psychology from GH. He's probably repeating what senior players have told him - there's no problem with BM, we're all best buddies etc. If that's what they have told him and he's seen for himself in training, then the only explanation is that the players themselves aren't good enough any more. The players can't have it both ways, and I think that's what GH is pointing out.

I expect that he believes the real issue IS complacency. Less than a year ago the team were good enough when it really counted, and whilst a couple may have slipped past the point of no return, there's no way that's true for the whole team. Either way we'll find out and he'll react by shaking up the squad if they simply sren't good enough.

As for BM, I think this helps him a lot. If complacency is the issue, then GH is telling the squad to pull their collective finger out. If not, the coach can expect to be backed in shaking things up.

While I agree with the sentiment of what GH is saying in terms of playing staff there are clearly issues with his comments too.

If you look at the squad what is he to do?
Webb - Already leaving and tbh has been past his best for a couple of years
Hall - Signed up on a long term contract and obviously wont go anywhere
Watkins - Also on a longterm contract and a big talent, albeit when he is not on the treatment table
Hardaker - Another talent who is signed up - clearly going nowhere
BJB - Another big talent
Smith - NOt the player he was but a suseful squad man.
Sinny - Sir Kev wont leave though a move to his actual position may help
Mags - One of our better players overall in my view, though is a 6 not 7
Kylie - Just signed up for another year so obvioulsy dont expect him to go anywhere
JP - For me he is done now but another under contract and someone I cant see getting the boot
Moore - signed by our esteemed idiot in charge so wouldnt expect him to go
Griffin - The same as Moore
Bailey - Think he signed up a couple of years ago so think he has another couple to go. Had his best season last year
Burrow - Our best 7 is playing at hooker. Get him back to 7 and he can be great again. Under contract
Mcshane - Just signed a 5 year deal deapite Brain appearing to treat him worse than a scabby dog. Contract and shirt number suggests he is in the longterm plans. Dreadful treatment suggests otherwise. Who knows.
Hood - Clearly got talent and a 4 year deal. One for the future
Delaney - not a world beater but steady and just signed new contract
JJB - If he scored as many tries as penalities he would be a wonder.
Ablett - Literally just signed a new contract so going nowhere.
Clarkson - Not recaptured his first season form
Weller - Looking better as he settles in
Kirke - Signed for two years under Brain. Another of Brains pets.

So, if GH wants an overhaul him and Brain have gone about it in a funny way as many players are signed up to longterm contracts. As I see it only Smith, JP, JJB, Clarkson and Kirke look at serious risk and out of those only JJB and JP are regular first 1 or even first 17 players. Hardly going to be a revolution is it!

Brain should have done more than just replace Biff and Cross last year. That was his chance. With the whole Lunt/McShane thing he has shown his incompetance again.

Brain is the issue. Get rid GH.

His commetnts are clearly aimed at this year. what he has added to the mix is readiness to make chnages next season if required.

If GH wants to really make a point he'd let one of our 'senior' players go - Peacock, McGuire, Burrow or even Sinfield.

I agree BR but they have backed themselves into a corner due to the contracts. They either have to get players to move on. Will big clubs take these players, especially as most are aging - I suspect not. Will the players want to move to lesser clubs - I suspect not. So that leaves the option of paying players off. Not something we could do en-masse.

Why were the players good enough to get new contracts in the last 18 months but now not good enough?

The reason for all this is so crystal clear.

In what way?

Admittedly if I selected 17 rugby players every week, my boss might question whether that was a constructive use of my time, but in more general terms I can't see much in McDermott's conduct that would get me the sack. I find it quite difficult to find a direct analog for losing at home to Wigan in my job.
