| Child is not up to SL standard, but there's a shortage of refs so it's tough.
Hull won't play that well again all season.
It was their cup final. They raised their game. Bit early in the season, but their fans seemed happy

Oh I think we'll manage it at least one more time.

We've played like that a few times this season. Our blip recently was down to our crippling injury list. We don't have the depth, which will stop us from coming top 4. But to put in a performance like that with 4 of your first choice backs out is a great effort.
I thought Leeds were very unsporting towards the end when the game was getting away from them, especially Brent Webb. I'm glad Child had a word with him about it but it didn't stop it happening again.

Agreed , not retreating at the goal kicks was pathetic .

Before anyone points out that our opener came from a forward I'll pre-emptively counter by saying that Hull got away with half a dozen similarly forward passes.
Hull did deserve it, but with a better ref we might have got a win we didn't deserve.'"
Well make your mind up who deserved it ? Haha

| He is the worst of a bad bunch, every time he refs there is always a multi page thread regarding his 'performance' somewhere. Not seen your match today and I'm glad really, I never enjoy watching James child reffed games as he ruins rugby league as a spectacle.

Such as...? And how many of them led to a try?

Hang on, if you got a win you didn't deserve as a result of the referee's performance, how would that have made him "better"?! Seems a strange comment to make.

| We all know what to expect from a James Child game, like most have said Hull deserved the win and its a shame that people are talking about the ref afterwards. He did makes several poor decisions but the only one that really still has me stratching my head afterwards is the Lee Smith incorrect PTB, never in a million years was that a penatly against Leeds. As for the forward passes, you win some you lose some, and with BJB's try i really think when the ball is passed long out to the winger it should be the touch judge that makes that call.

| Thought we deserved it tonight but think also that some of you Rhinos are being a bit hard on your lads. You came at us hard down the middle for what seemed an eternity in the 2nd half, and if you had got over the line the momentum may have changed. It was so important our defence stood up and we did, down the middle especially. It was a tight game till our two late tries gave us daylight. As ever with Childs penalties become a bit like a lottery as to who gets them, never seen so many players look in amazement at his calls. Anyway tonight it was our turn at last and its great to have one against you. See you at Headingley, we may need the rest of our wounded back to get anything there me thinks.

| The only real credit Leeds, as a team, deserve is only losing by 14. I find myself thinking what if the Smith try had been given ... but even when we had our tails up on after scoring tries there was still no fluidity to the attack; Sinfield seemed, to misuse a term, to be the RL equivalent of sacked repeatedly - I never want to see him die with the ball but Hull appeared to get to him several times. Despite this still he came up with some delicious passes.
All in all another one to file away with the small but slowly growing collection of away from home horror shows over the past two years. I'm not sure it means anything in the long run for Leeds but it may be a sign of a sea change for Hull.

Totally agree. I wasn't mad at Child for missing that. Having reffed the game plenty of times in the past, they're difficult to see at that speed. But the TJ should have been all over that.
I think the Lee Smith penalty was a bit harsh, but you have to find your feet before putting the ball down. It's one of those technical things that gets ignored every week and for some reason Child decided to use it there. I think it was the right decision "technically", but you could have probably pulled up at least 10 more of them in that game so why he decided to then I don't know.

| There was nothing wrong with the Webb pass to Jones-Bishop for his try. The referee and/or touch-judge got that call correct, IMO.
Even the angle that made it look slightly dubious still shows Webb inline with the ball as Jones-Bishop receives it even after his momentum was slowed by Crooks' challenge.

The forward pass calls he may have got wrong were in fact the ones he called - the crazy Lee Smith one and then the one from Hull down BJB's side in the second half which was a great example of the inherent momentum in a passed ball - I need to see it again but it seemed to travel well forwards in relation to the ground but, in fact, was arguably passed backwards legitimately.

| Even my step-son (15) has learned that when Childs is the ref he will watch a game more reminiscent of the RU games he is more accustomed to....lots of stop start ref dominated whistle blowing games. Ugghh
Hopeless. It's a toss up between him and Alibert for the worst seen in SL
