Why not just go with Burrow on bench that worked so very well last season for us?

| Absolutely, Burrow from the bench (at either 9 or 7) is by far the best use of him. Tiring forwards have no chance

| I agree Lunt to start with Burrow off the bench. Unfortunately I don't think Burrow would stick around for long with that 'deal' and indeed it looks like he negotiated that idea off the options list during the close season. It will therefore probably be Burrow remaining as first choice starting hooker with Lunt off the bench.
However, I am also an advocate for giving Hood and Ward as many games as possible this season.
Ward should now be bench 'impact' player (better than the ageing Manu) and I'd be inclined to also accomodate Hood by including him as the interchange bench hooker.
With Lunt's signing this would mean Burrow starting at SH (McGuire and Sinfield back to their old positions too).
McShane is surplus and for me would be the one loaned out.
I'm actually glad I'm not the coach

Doesn't stop some of them knowing far more about running and coaching a Rugby League team, than any coach Leeds have ever had.

| I was assured that one advantage of signing Buderus would be his mentoring of the hookers coming through the academy. Acquiring Lunt suggests to me that it hasn't really panned out that way.
And before anyone goes off one, this isn't meant as a criticism of Buderus the player.

Some learn faster than others. Some don't even listen.
Don't also forget that Buderus left a year earlier than planned.

In fairness you can never guarantee the results of a mentoring programme. The mentored may not have the ability or the will to listen. Not saying that's the case here, but if it hadn't worked out, hindsight is a very powerful tool.

I'm glad as well Nant!
But if we sign Lunt it raises interesting selection choices as you say. If you had Lunt/Hood as starting/bench hookers plus Ward as 'impact hooker' with Sinfield back to 13 that would mean one of JJB/Delaney/Ablett on the bench and the other 2 starting leaving room for just 2 props on the bench. IMO 2 props, a back row and playmaker back/forward/half back is a better balance for attacking rugby.
The problem will be Sinfield's reluctance to return to 13. I have a feeling that Sinny could end up as a distributing 9 if he is not expected to make a big tackling stint each week like Burrow. Kev has the ability to make a long pass from acting half back which I would like to see with a deep set back line. This would allow Ward to play at 13 and with Burrow at 7 and Mags at 6 we would have plenty of pivots.

Agree with all that, Having seen Hood in the u20's he does offer the same as burrow would in the hooking role. He has pace and an eye for a gap.
He will only get better with more first team action, Mcshane hasn't kicked on as he was expected to.
Maybe BMD has realised now that our 6 7 13 should play in their correct positions, I hope so

| I think IF he signs then Hood will go out on loan and posssibly Mcshane aswell unless he's the bench 9.
For me Ward whether this season or next is the incumbant 13 so again that raises questions about Sinny staying at 6.
Of course Ward could become the "Impact" BR which would balance a move back to 13 for Sinfield and Mags and Burrow at 6 + 7 respectively with Lunt and Mcshane taking the 9 duties.
Some big calls to be made but imo it would be a mistake to lose Mcshane or Hood permanently.
