Seriously. You can't work that one out? unless you missed the "if"?

To be honest no, we have at least 6 full time 2nd rowers on the books, Delaney has been a very good player for us and his contract was well deserved.
To not retain Delaney just in case a 32 year old Ellis came back to Leeds 12 months later (before he even announced he was coming back to SL) doesn't hold much water for mine.

I am not sure what you are trying to argue, or whether you are trying to be funny or something.
Just to be clear.
Delaney is an overseas player, an overseas player who does a job but is no great shakes. We could easily replace with British and IMO own club. However, that really isn't the point. The point was I hope we don't miss out on getting Ellis returned because of that new contract. That was in relation to a 3 year deal, thinking Ellis might return season after next. The fact that he is now returning ealier highlights it even more.
Ellis is a million times better than Delaney. So the point was I hope by throwing money at Delaney that we do not miss out. Get both great.
Just to make the mathmatics easier for you. If you have £10 and can only spend that amount full stop, and you see two proucts that you want, one at £7 and another at £7. If you already spend on the first product then you can not get that second one can you?

| Delaney was given the number 15 shirt for a reason. It's almost inconceivable that he will still be in favour next season regardless of contracts. That said he's one of the first names on the teamsheet for me based on his form since shifting into the second row in 2011.
Leeds don't often go back (although occasionally they do) I'd be hoping they'd make another rare exception if Ellis was affordable and eager to rejoin the club as his first choice but that wouldn't be at Delaney's expence.

I haven't. So fully expect him to go to the Wolves, tho my preference for the sake of Superleague would be for him to go to Cas or Wakey or even (whisper it quietly) the Bulls.

| My preference is that he goes to Wigan, but they don't realise he has a "Harris clause" in his contract...

| Good, solid, dependable player in his time, but never a great player and certainly not in the world class bracket. Improved somewhat during his stint at West Tigers as coach Tim Sheens had to re-educate him, teach him how to defend and insist he went rlback to basicsrl.
Like Morley, collected a few rave reviews down under - which panders to Aussie self-belief in their ability to turn an ordinary pom into a good one - but never really cut the mustard in internationals and has been a disappointment at that level. NRL clubs are very astute when it comes to judging when a players best days are behind him and Ellis's time is clearly up there after 3 seasons of hard graft.
Should Leeds sign him? No. They don't need him.

What? A top NRL player isn't good enough for the fifth best Super League side?

| It would be nice to have him back but no doubt Leeds will have to pay over the odds to get him.
Contra Gotcha, I think Delaney offers far more bang for the buck in the second-row and has the advantage of being a lot younger.

You said this was the very reason you questioned the new Delaney deal and I'm not sure why that's all.
Kirke got a new deal so why isn't he stopping Ellis from coming back?, I would rather get rid of Kirke or Huaraki way before Delaney to bring Ellis back, Ellis is English so I'm not sure what Delaneys quota spot has to do with that.
And thanks for the maths lesson.
