| The pass to Lima was a really poor decision, but still not quite as poor as the effort made to tackle him by Bailey and Ablett.
The NZ/South Africa tri nations game last week had an incident where the video official was asked if NZ had scored a try. The ref was really interested in the grounding but on replay it was an obvious, very forward pop pass to the scorer (it was only a yard from the line). The video official told the ref that the grounding was fine and then asked if he could comment on anything else, the ref said yes, and then video official called the forward pass - no try and scrum to the defence. It made me think.

| Thought the officials were good today. Finch 40/20 was wrong but apart from that I can't see anything else that was controversial.
Well played to your guys too - they really should be proud of their performance

| BJB try looked a forward pass to me, I was sat directly in front of it.
Edit: Might have been a try for Hall, i just remember a forward pass to BJB.
There were dodgy decisions both ways, it just happened that the ones everyone will remember went our way. (For once...)

Come on...Wigan are a great championship side and have the ability to win matches where they perhaps don't quite deserve it ( a little like the Leeds team of a few seasons ago funnily enough )....BUT the decisions against Leeds today (Lima's MASSIVELY forward pass and the UNFORGIVEABLY MISSED Kick into touch off Charnley) were HUGE calls.

| I honestly think when we have huge occasions like this and all the technology that goes with it it should used.
By that i mean the spear on Delaney was blatant and if Bentham and his flag wavers are gonna ignore it then the VR should imo step in because play was stopped because he gave a knock on.
It would take seconds for the VR to have a word and say look mate it was a spear wrong call and we move on.
Also Hicks was a fecking joke both Ablett and Hall 2nd half tries were clear yet the weasel called for the VR!!
We lost today because they outscored us and we couldn't quite get back level or go in front after the appalling 20 minutes during which they ran out 16-0.
We've had games when calls go for us and also against but i think the time has come to cut out glaringly wrong calls with the tools we have available.
Very proud of the lads for the spirit and comeback but it wasn't to be.

The ref cannot go to the VR when the ball is in play. But the VR can advise the ref through coms kit.

I know mate but bentham gave a "knock on" and the game stopped at which point the VR had time to step in and say that it was a dangerous tackle and award the penalty.

I still can't fathom why we have this idea that the video ref can't judge forward passes - yes camera angles can be deceptive but the VR can look at multiple angles so is still in the best position to judge (after all the Ref and TJ's might have had an entirely obstructed view).
It really is something that needs a serious rethink - have you ever tried explaining to a football fan how the VR can be consulted on offside, grounding etc yet the most blatant of forward passes if missed by the on field officials is ok!

| I find it amazing how people can criticise wigans tactics in defence can't see that leeds employed the very same tactic - although it does seem to be mostly wire fans.
Yes, the pass was forward. Not the first time something likle that has been missed in a game. The ref also failed to spot ablett not playing the ball correctly leading to one of the leeds tries but I suppose that doesn't matter does it.
It was agreat game, exciting to the end. Well done to leeds for making it such a close contest. The better team on the day won.

Maybe they let it go because Delaney tried to stamp on Carmont's head?

Whilst upside down? Well done Brett, that is very very impressive.
I also hear Rob Burrow tried to kill Tommy Lueluai with a trident, and other assorted made up things.

I can understand the argument against using the VR for forward passes. The angles and the way it looks is so inconsistant it would lead to even more inconsistant refereeing and just cause more problems.
I cant understand why the RFL or NRL dont approach a company like hawkeye and see what they could do. Im sure the bright engineers over there can think of something. If they can invent a system which can predict the movement of a spinning and swinging cricket ball, surely they can invent something which judges whether a ball goes forward or backwards relative to a player
