Are you reading from Maurice Lyndsay's press release circa 1995? Surprised you haven't mentioned Calder RLFC.

| There was an earlier mention of it....
someone alluded to merging a few clubs in Wakefield area to produce something very similar to Calder RLFC.
Don't need mergers, just let teams play. The principal of a 10 team Super League has potential.

Not me for one.
Merge the two clubs – they still couldn’t make a decent team between them. I really don’t care if they’ve been around for 100+ years, they’re morons.
My only real concern would be that it would create a set of Super Morons with the combined idiocy from both clubs. It’d be like Planet of the Apes meets Deliverance.'"
You didn't used to be a low-rent troll. What happened?

I assume you're on a wind-up, but the day RL has no room for sentiment will be the day I stop taking any interest.

I have this thing for Hull/Hullians - militant fekkers the lot of them.
With enough strategically placed Semtex it would be possible to detach Kings Town from the rest of the country and it could then be it’s own independent state.
Win win for everyone.

No, I'm serious. It's a kick up the booty the game needs.

| I'd go to a 12 team league with 1 up 1 down but the newly promoted team to get 1yrs exemption of relegation.
I'd also impliment a top 5 with 1st getting the week off and then a straight knock out system.
Another thing i'd like to see is regular home and away test series' against the Aussie and Kiwis at u16,u18 and u20 level.
I'd also revert back to GB with "minor nations" competiing in their own minor WC with the winner qualifying for the bigger version.

If you have to remove the soul of the game to save the body, perhaps the body isn't worth saving. I'd have no interest in your new league.
I guess we'll just agree to differ.

It just shows what a visionary Maurice Lindsay was. however the flat cappers held him back. What has happened to all those tens of thousands who marched the streets of Cas, Wakey and Fev. Why are they not supporting their teams now?

They can't afford it, Thatcher stole all their jobs.
The true story behind it all can be found rlhererl

I think I would temper the visionary term, by adding; aceeding to Sky's demands.

I always thought Lindsay's big vision was how to resurrect and then bankrupt the biggest name in the sport.
Re - The proposals for mergers, if the vision was to rile most of, if not all, the heartland Rugby League communitites then he succeeded and then some.
Of course in the end the biggest thing that came out of the Sky SL deal was the switch from winter to summer and even that wasn't a Lyndsay vision as that came off the back of Messers Hetherington and Caisley as I recall.

| Quote: Remarkable_Rhinos "I've just been looking at the league table and noticed that Warrington's points difference is 609!
Firstly, well done Wire! Excellent stuff! (That hurts!)
According to my research (Wikipedia!), which I'd really like verifying by somebody who knows the stats to be correct (tvoc?!), if they keep above the 600 mark, this is only the 3rd 600+ points difference of the SL era.
They've also got a 39 point positive swing in the 3 remaining matches to gain in order to break the record.
They would NOT however, be the first team to have a 600+ points difference to finish 2nd. That "honour" goes to us.
[iTeam - Year - Points Difference - Final League Position[/i
[iLeeds - 2005 - 647 - 2nd
Bradford - 2001 - 646 - 1st
]Warrington - 2011 - 609 - 2nd (with 3 games still to play)[/i
Bradford - 2000 - 596 - 1st
Leeds - 2004 - 594 - 1st]
*All stats are from Wikipedia. I'm not sure how accurate they are!
Edit - Stats altered slightly and are now confirmed. Bloody Wikipedia.'"
the leeds and bradford totals are from after the play offs too

Why do you say that?
The totals are all just from the League campaigns.
Leeds - 2005 - Pts For 1152 (R), Pts Agst 505, Pts Diff 647 (R)
Bradford - 2001 - Pts For 1120, Pts Agst 474, Pts Diff 646
Bradford - 2000 - Pts For 1004, Pts Agst 408, Pts Diff 596
Leeds - 2004 - Pts For 1037, Pts Agst 443, Pts Diff 594
(R) = SL Era Record
Warrington - 2011 - Pts For 999, Pts Agst 377, Pts Diff 622
*As Warrington still have two games to play they haven't yet earned or finalised their place on the table.
The four current highest points differences all occurred in 28 game League seasons. Should Warrington bust into the Leeds/Bradford love in they will have done so while playing one fewer game.
