This isn't like calling for Hall to be moved to the Centre, or Burrow to be moved to Hooker. I'm not trying to just move people for the sake of it.
BJB IS our next full back. Yes, he's not as experienced as Webb, and he's a different type of full back, but so what? We're supposed to be in "transition" yet we're intent on clinging onto past their best players instead of giving the future the experience everybody seems to complain at them for not having.

I defy anybody to watch it back, then come on here and tell me that you think pre-backinjury Webb would've conceded that try.'"
Pre-back injury, Webb would have had a better chance of making the tackle, but he would still have made the same decision on pointing his cover defenders to the support runners and offering Chase the outside - I'd still say that the likelihood would have been a try still (Chase is afterall on of the best runners in superleague).
That was my point, Webb made the correct call on how to deal with the threat, he simply didnt have the pace having given Chase the only option to go to the corner to catch him. Rather than berate Webb, to be honest I think you've just gotta give credit to Chase.

| Forward passes or not leeds lose a lot without Webb as a passing option given how the current halves are performing. That would be the concern with bjb at full back.

I'd expect a try 9/10 in that situation too. But just backtracking and letting him run at you is more like 10/10. At least ATTEMPT a tackle before it's too late.'"
You've misread the situation that occurred.

| I can see why Webb has been retained in tems of who we are releasing and how young and inexperienced our back line are.
The biggest shocker to me is that Kirke got 2yrs yet Bailey who has been by far our best prop all year has yet to be retained !!
Griffin i think will add something .Moore i'm underwelmed and would of hoped Ambler or Amor would of got a crack at a few games.

agree about Bailey being amongst our best if not best prop these last 4 games.....but all season?????? Come on mate that's stretching it a little far??
Agree I'd prefer him (on current form) to the retention of Kirke and probably Kylie as well.
If rumours of Griffin and Moore come true and Bailey is retained then I worry about the future of Amor and Ambler. Would they be prepared to go out on loan again and await injuries or retirement if JP and Kylue to get their chance in the 1st team?

| It is tough to criticise Webb for Chase scoring, it would be very difficult to tackle a player of Chase's ability when on the back foot. I do think Webb's defence is a touch suspect and he has lost a hell of a lot of his running ability and speed. His constant forward passes and whining wind me up too, refs have obviously been told to watch his passes as he gets pinged every match for it and thus he should make an extra effort to make sure he doesn't pass it so flat. Webb is still safe as houses under the kicks though and adds some creativity to the back line with a touch of support play. BJB is still a little vulnerable under the kick but his speed and trying to collect the ball on the full makes him more of a threat. It is a tough one and I see the pro's and con's from both, hopefully BJB can get a few games at full back and I'm sure there will be injuries next year in which they can both have opportunities.

Kyle Amor may be staying at Wakefield if they have their way, and I would not blame him if he does.

I think that Webby has become very indecisive on defence and this is not the first time he has been exposed.
Remember when Whiting broke away in the QF ( when he had no-one in support ) and Webb just backed away and eventually fell on his backside ?
Although Danny McGuire saved Webb's blushes with a cover tackle, Hull scored off the next play.
Webb seems incapable of taking the initiative when facing an oncoming player and a clever footballer such as Chase will take full advantage.

| He had chase, then he hesitated and chase did his dummy and step then accelerated. He should have just taken the man rather than waiting to see if he'd offload.
Chase if difficult to face in 1 on 1's but webb f*cked up for sure.

| What Marcel just said, plus Chase then completely did him for pace at the wrong moment, and left him for dead. And it would be reassuring to think that whoever is playing FB has got the pace to stay with an attacking player, rather than being completely done by him. Webb's pace hasnt been the best since his back problem, and that's something that needs to be taken into consideration. It's the same problem we had with Keef, he was been found out for pace by younger, quicker fellas, and then we are in trouble.

Pace wasn't the problem in that situation.
Webb had him, he got himself in a position to make the tackle.
But he hesitated for a second to see if case would pass to the support runners. It was fatal, because chase then did a step as if he going to go on the inside then straight away accelerated on the outside, this wrong footed webb but he still caught chase, just the line was already too close and chase made it.
He f*cked up. A fullback should never hesitate to make the tackle, as that second is always fatal.

| Quote: Remarkable_Rhinos "Watch it back. Webb HAS to go for the man. He has several opportunities to attempt a tackle long before he does. The Leeds chasers (Hall who's cutting across, Watkins & Bailey - yes Bailey!) are quickly closing in on the supporting Cas player (Youngquest) and would've caught him long before the line.
Had Webb had attempted a tackle on Chase he would've a) Tackled him or b) forced the pass to Youngquest who would've been caught or c) slowed him down enough for Watkins & Hall to catch up.
You ask any coach... the Full Back in those situations should ALWAYS go for the man with the ball.'"
When it comes to a foot race Youngquest has won everytime this season thats why cas signed him, a winger with genuine pace.
Rangi made a mistake when throwing a dummy, Youngquest in the clear would not have been caught.
Webb backing off and tackling Chase over the line saved Leeds 2 points!

| Webb probably could have taken Chase out, but Clarkson's poor miss allowed the whole thing to unfold. Even if Webb had got Chase, we'd have been in defence on our own line. If Clarkson had made the tackle we'd have been defending 70M out.
Slightly OT, I know everyone's creaming about Charnley, but am I the only one who thought his attempt to beat Wellens after making a long break was, well, a bit naff? He had acres of space in which to commit Wellens, and yet only swerved a little way too close to him. Wellens is a sound defender, but has nowhere near the speed of Webb. IMO Charnley could and should have scored. Plenty of class wingers I've seen would have been in under the sticks from that position.
