I'd agree with all of this......
BUT would this game not be the one to give Wilson a run instead of Smith ??....AND dare I suggest again....an opportunity to also 'rest' McGuire and try Hardaker at SO ??

That tram stop probably never even existed when my Escort wing mirrors were booted off mate
Must have been 85-86 ish as Neil Baker was their star Aussie player at the time

| Yes. Very fond memories of attending matches at the Weaste.
Especially in the David Watkins era when they had a really entertaining team.
Strangely though, my most abiding memory is of a cup game when Les Bettinson completely outplayed Lewis Jones at stand off and took the Reds into the next round, completely tearing up the form book.
(More memories of another Manchester connurbation ground (Swinton) and another stand off assassination................this time orchestrated by none other than Ryan Giggs' dad!.........his name just escapes me).

That sounds like 27th November 1988 (League match) so that would obviously be from the 88/89 season. Leeds won 24 - 6 with Carl Gibson bagging a brace. I'll check it out tomorrow (later today) to see if one of those came via an intercept.

The Weaste?
Awesome pub. Full of Scouse Manure supporters in Salford, who'd have thunk it?

Neither of them were named in the squad.

| iv been following salford since early 90's and having to only beat you once since then it hasnt been good but i think the best game iv seen at the willows was in 2006 you won by a drop goal in the last minute, think it was 36-37 the final score but it was possible the best rugby game thriller for a long time there

I think I might be mixing up my game then. How many times did we play Salford in the preceding season?
I only ask because, as I mentioned, Salford was my first away game, but I also remember shouting abuse at Maurice Bamford as he left the dugout and getting told to F*** off for my troubles. That definitely wasn't my first visit, so I'm thinking there might have been a cup game in 1987-88.

Think he's talking about the Con club just at the side of North stand where the away fans stand. I'll be in there as usual drinking several cans of Strongbow!!!

| We're 7th in the league & run the risk of not qualifying for the playoffs. I think the Salford game shouldn't be used to "rest" anyone and should be used as a game in which we try our damnedest to secure 2 league points.

I would have to agree, It's not 2009 and no one has really deserved a rest this year.
