Other than losing disastrously to Castleford Murray didn't leave under a cloud with GH personally.

As great as he was in getting amazing amounts out of, on the face of it, not very much what exactly are his credentials for building a new team for the long term future? That is, like it or not, what the head coach and GH will have to do over the next 2 years, very possibly making themselves unpopular whilst so doing.

If we get another head coach he has to be strong to take on the senior players and let them know who is boss - sadly McDermott is not capable of this. There is no way Maguire nor Robinson would put up with what is going on here - player power has to be a thing of the past.

100% spot on. We could recruit an excellent coach who takes the long term view and gets shut of some very popular players, some of whom still stand out due to the current poor quality that surrounds them. But results don't show the immediate improvement that the fans crave, said fans fail to purchase season tickets and an excellent coach gets the chop. Leaving us no further forward and. Better to proceed under McDermott, albeit with gritted teeth, until the cycle is played out. At least in my book.

You only have to look at what he did at North Queensland - under Sheens they were a disaster but Murray turned that around and made that club very competitive.
