Gotcha: Don't think mentioning Disko's name once (well thats twice now) warrants 'going on' about him! Just trying to get an understanding of G1's disliking of Buderus. Usually G1 has logical and rational views on overseas players - he has correctly (so far) predicted that Hauraki & Cross would be a waste of salary cap - but I fail to see where he's coming from with Buderus, who in my opinion is the best all round 9 we've had in years

What none of us will ever know is how McShane would have developed (& Hood?) without Buderus' presence here, with only Diskin as their onfield & training ground mentor.
I have my views.

At least we'll be able to look back fondly at some of his great moments.

That'll be last year's cup semi final when he was almost man of the match then.

It's not as if we can look back on any great moments featuring Disko is it..............

Don't worry, I'll never forget how Disko single handedly won us 4 grand finals (and there was me thinking it was a team game)

But since memories count for squat, i'm reasonably optimistic that Buderus greatest moments are yet to come - whilst our illustrious ex hooker contemplates life outside the playoffs

McShane has shown that he is a failed halfback who is making great strides as an attacking hooker, thus catching the eye. It would be folly to compare his style of play with that of Buderus as they are completely different. Buderus is a more traditional hooker, who provides excellent service to his halfback and is a much better defender than any other hooker in the comp, including Roby, IMO.

They complement each other well, with each one compensating for the other's deficiencies.

Do they? Not to me they don't. They count for an awful lot. They're like the corners of my mind. Misty water coloured.

I hope your optimism in Buderus abilities to emulate Diskin are well founded. Sadly, even if we manage to win one this year it looks like he may bail on us leaving him with 25% of Diskin's achievements.

Well thats one thing we agree on, McShane will be a fantastic 9 - but still unproven on a week in week out basis. For that reason I wouldn't mind Buderus hanging around another year. In fact I reckon we've been at our best this season (from an attacking point of view) when they've both been on the pitch, just a shame it takes Mags to be injured before it happens!
