The OPTA stats for this game might make interesting reading.

I say might in the knowledge that they don't often appear to be too accurate a reflection.

A win is a win. But was this a super game fit to be a part of a super league?

Are we all ready for the Spin machine to put a positive slant on this performance? The spin machine which is currently ranked third behind Labour and the Conservatives, marginally in front of the Lib Dems.

It will need that much paper I hope we have shares in Graham & Brown...

As someone who spent 10 years devising and taking match stats I can say fairly confidently that on the whole if you win the majority of the stat sections ...sets in possession- sets completed- tackle counts- meters gained- penalties conceeded- etc you will generally win the game...there are as always exceptions to the rule icon_wink.gif

as you say the stats for this particular game will make interesting reading.

I look forward to the coach's opinions on the performance today... in particular his views on completion rates icon_wink.gif

Burrow did that most of the game. His performances get worse. To be fair not many willing runners for him, but he just has no vision of what is around him.

Good thread this by the way, all the radio analysts that believe their view is correct. icon_lol.gif Not really surprising who is leading the way.

The first 40 we were dismal and it was only the fact that Wakefield were worse than us in the second half that we won... by a flattering scoreline.

Child was useless and was a whistle happy cowboy.

As someone who actually went to the game can I offer the following:

Wakey were excellent in the first half - they built pressure but lacked the skill to turn domination into points. Leeds defended well, especially when down to 12 but Wakey didn't really ask that many questions.

Losing the penalty count 11-4 in the first half was a reflection of Wakey's dominance - the count swung the other way has Leeds got a grip.

Watkins he is one serious talent - he makes the difficult look easy as well as his 4 tries he made one brilliant try saving tackle in the first half.

Sinfield - three brilliant assists, although I expect Webb to get the assist for the first try, his flip out the back was worth the entrance money on its own.

Burrow - how far backwards has he gone as a player - maybe he needs so time away to recharge and rethink, he bombed a 5 man overlap and minutes later through a bullet into Cross's head when soft hands would have seen a try scored.

Bailey excellent, who would have thought he might start after all this time, not Remarkable Rhino icon_biggrin.gif he gave the middle some spine.

Ablett was my MOM he was superb in defense

McShane shown some real variety to his game and a nice kick that Watkins effortless turned into a try.

A hard won victory but one out completion rugby is not the way forward in attack for the Rhinos, Wakey coped easy with this when we started throwing it around they struggled.

In Dean and Johnson they look to have a good threequarter combination for the future

Good summary tbf Sal but i also thought Kylie added impact especially in defence.
Got to agree re-Burrow not the pocket rockest finest game but many others made howlers ball in hand especially poor knock ons from Hall and Jjb.
I will also add that the players alone have to take the critics for the 1st half and also the credit for digging themselves out of the hole they dug.

Thanks for your valuable input but as you'll notice from the thread title itself - Wakefield v Leeds Full Match Commentary - we are actually discussing the game from a [i"Wakefield v Leeds Full Match Commentary"[/i perspective. As someone who actually listened to the [i"Wakefield v Leeds Full Match Commentary"[/i, I do hope you appreciate the validity of comments discussing the game from such a perspective - on a thread with such a clear and unambiguous perspective in mind - as being infinitely more valid than yours in that respect.
