That is the worst thing you can do, if it just a private firm (NOTE not a council or sub-contracted council ticket) just ignore it.

| Important point to note:
If it's a private firm, then your "ticket" is an invoice which effectively seeks payment in a matter of your perceived entry into a contract. In these cases, it is the driver of the vehicle, not the registered keeper who is liable. They would, therefore, have to demonstrate that it was you who parked it there, not just you who owned it. And they can't ask you to prove that you didn't or tell them who else might have been.
Just in case the cowboys try to follow it up.
I had a similar case a few months ago when parked on the premises of a business where I was a customer. They sent me various threatening letters which generally indicated that failure to pay would affect my credit record (a common ploy it seems). This is a lie. There is no credit involved. The fact that they are happy to send such empty threats tells you all you need to know about the organiastion you're dealing with. I ignored the letters and eventually they stopped arriving.

I trust you took your custom elsewhere after that (mis)treatment.

I had a bugger of a job once selling a car that turned out to have not been registered in ANY country, (I'm sure you'll know who's car it was, I'll say the word Benidorm) in the end I gave it to my father-in-law in Newcastle just to get it out of my sight and after he died I haven't a clue what happened to it.

| ^ This one for a change is road legal.
It is been used for evaluation purposes and transporting items from said country of registration to England.
The evaluation part is to find out at what speed the camera at the end of the M606 takes a picture.
Lets just say passing through Customs at Euro Tunnel last week was a new experiance and one I wouldn't want to repeat.
The evaluation is Tomorrow morning

I did. And do. Several places. They actually own a chain of such premises, and I no longer use any of them. I'm sure my loss of custom won't hurt them too much, but I feel better for it.

| The whole thing makes interesting reading.
I noticed that Excel parking are allegedly one of the companies not above this sort of behaviour. They own and operate quite a number of 'pay & display' car parks in the region and this got me thinking that in actual fact, you could almost get away with not paying to park in private 'pay & display' car parks (assuming they don't have CCTV) if you had the balls! They would be unable to prove who parked the car in the first place (again, without evidence of course) as well as for the following invoices... in fact, would they not have to prove in this case that the car was even there in the first place!
I understand now why most private car parks run by companies with better morals have entry and exit payment systems along with reasonable 'fine' structures!

It will have fitted in well with the thousands of unregistered uninsured car driven by the unlicensed drivers of Newcastle

Yeah I'm sure Leeds doesn't have a similar issue.

Sounds very much like the ACS Law cowboys I had dealings with (unrelated to parking I might add). I didnt pay the £400 they wanted.
