| I know i'm in the minority when it comes to Burrow but it doesnt change my opinions on him. For every 1 break he makes by ducking under a tackle he kills 10 overlaps by failing to duck under a tackle. He's one of the worst organisers in the league and the main time his short comings become apparent is when McGuire plays 7.
Also his "man of the series" came against probably the worst ever touring team to come over to these shores. Yes, the Kiwis are a very good team but as far as strength in depth goes they arent much stronger than us and the majority of players that came over would be average in the SL.

I genuinely didn't realise my unfortunate choice of words there. My bad.

Actually I think that's a fair assessment. The problem with Burrow appears linked to his role in the team. The other key pivot players have carved out niches for themselves but Rob's game doesn't appear to have evolved much over the years. He started to show some form in the first two games this season but appears to have gone into his shell again (partly linked to the fortunes of the pack, perhaps?). The best I can remember him play was in 2005, when he was scoring a fair few tries and goals in McGuire and/or Sinfield's absence. But since then he's never really become such an integral part of the side as Webb, McGuire, Diskin/Buderus or Sinfield.
Hopefully we'll see more from him for the rest of the duration of McGuire's injury. Remember, according to Stevo, 'Burrow is back!'

I hate to say it but I tend to agree. I admire Burrow's pace, attitude, guts and broken field abilit..... But he leaves a lot to be desired against organised defence. He certainly has no kicking game bag of tricks to admire.
Maybe McShane should be given a run at no 7 tomorrow with Burrow on the bench.

Aye, back to Kirkes glory days.
To be honest Kirke (AKA The Gentle Giant) would probably get found out more in that division as the expectation to offer something would be on him. If he was to offer a handful of drives he would be getting the w-nker sign. And rightly so.

| I'd have him back at York.
I'll have McShane too if you're offering.

Apart from Brough I can't think of a British SH who offers much more than Burrow. And he has wasted over 50% of his career, while Burrow has been a magnificent servant. There aren't British scrum halves who take on the line & make breaks, nothing like Burrow does. Sure he runs laterally & ends up looking daft occasionally. The alternative is safety first passing along the line, relying on breaks by others to support or position to put kicks in near the line. I don't know what his role is as Leeds is as regards organising, but in a number of clubs that is directed from PTB by the hooker or LF if the latter is particularly strong in that area. I'd have certainly have loved him in my team for the last 10 years.

The point is ..no matter how LITTLE you 'rate' (or anybody 'rates' him).... it's STILL OVER-RATING him.

Deal. Feel free to pick him up when you're ready.
(please note The Gentle Giant comes with no extras. You will need to supply your own batteries, ability, guts and work load. No returns either.)
