| This Bulls fan is delighted that we have signed a guy who is smart enough to recognise he needs a future after the game, and something sensible to invest his spare time in other than his games console, beer and a settee to lounge on all day.
You get plenty of free time as a professional RL player. He's making better use of some of that than many do. Good lad.
Good for him - I'm even more chuffed we signed him now.

Matt has been working in property development for quite some time, including during his Leeds career.
He was working in property in 2009 and that didn't interfere with his playing commitment to Leeds. The only thing that interfered with Matt's playing commitment was the clubs decision to sign an over the hill, injury prone expensive Aussie. Once that hindrance was out of the way in 2009 Matt was able to play a major role in our unbeaten run and 3rd consecutive GF.

Good job the likes of Sinfield, Peacock and McGuire stepped up to the mark - helped to mask the ineffective contribution of some of the team mates!!
Let's face it Ian Kirke has won as many rings in the last 4 years as Matt Diskin?

| Can't believe this has turned into a Disco is better than "some old issue crock" debate again! They play against each other in a couple of weeks, let battle commence.
As for Discos other job, good on him. There are loads of players who own / run other businesses or carry on studying. Can't see it affecting his play.

| I just happened to come across Matt during my property hunt in Aug/Oct last year, just a couple of days after the CC final loss. He seemed to have a lot of time on his hands, every time I asked for a property viewing or to exchange documents he seemed to have a very open schedule. What do people actually think a rugby players typical day involves? Training the house down working the 9 till 5? Hardly.
What about Burrows Physiotherapy business? When will his commitment be in question? What about when JJB, Willie and Sinny we're doing their sports science degree? Which I would imagine was pretty demanding. Ok there is nothing like been a part time director of 'a fast growing company' but come on...

Yeah, the Aussie crock that made 23 appearances last season, more than diskin infact.

Damn that pesky Diskin for taking away precious game time away from Buderus. Imagine how much faster and dynamic we would have been in 2009 had Diskin not come into the team as they went unbeaten from July en route to their third consecutive GF win. You know, not being Dynamic and fast on those October nights in 2009, 2008, 2007 and 2004 has really taken the shine off my memories.
Still, I have my memories of the dynamism and pace the team showed in the glorious 2010 campaign with the Aussie crock getting the lions share of game time. Pesky Diskin can never take those away from me, like he took precious game minutes away from the the darling of Headingley, that sexy, pacy dynamic Aussie crock.'"
I agree that Diskin has been an excellent servant to the club.
But to credit him for the '04,'07,'08 and '09 victories and lament Buderus for the '10 campaign is ridiculous in the extreme. Now, I suspect that you were using this gross oversimplification with your tongue firmly in cheek, but you should remember that not everyone on here is as intuitive as me.

They haven't signed for another club so it's not an issue. As soon as they're not Rhinos the fekkwitts will turn on them.

I take your point. How on earth can you give any credit to Diskin, for example, for the 2004 campaign. OK, so he was that season's player of the year and, OK, so he did win the Harry Sunderland award but, come on, that accent just won't win the hearts of the whino faithful.

It is isn't it. Now that Buderus doesn't have Diskin holding him back maybe there's no more excuses this year is there? Maybe Buderus might win the odd man of the match award here or there this year, let alone player of the year, let alone win a GF let alone pick up a Harry Sunderland.

The point I was trying to make was that it is barmy to credit one player for the collective achievements of a special group of players, whilst simultaneously blaming one player for poor performances. A game of rugby league has never been won by one player on his own.
It would be equally as barmy to blame the trophyless 2010 season on Delaney. It was all going well before he showed up.

Well, his form was pretty ordinary. But he has the right kind of accent. He produced nothing last year that Ashley Gibson had not produced before him.

Suprisingly, i agree G. Numerous times throughout 2010 he advertised his property company through twitter. His game was never distracted and tbh, i feel he managed his time well between both Leeds & Millennia.
