Years ago when I first started reading this board (i did have a different log on that I can't even remember) you could come on here and air your views and generally share opinions, then it got a little childish - and in large parts still is. Too often a thread turns into a p*ssing contest, with people picking up on grammar, spelling and the slightest mistake in a bid to prove that they are somewhat superior.

Hence nowadays I tend to only post now and then about subjects I have a strong view on, or when I've heard something interesting that others might wanna hear.

So people are coming back, just under new logins then. Fair do's.

Agreed. I used to contribute YEARS ago. Can't even remember the log in and only got to Eddie's Wig. I stopped contributing because all the politics and infighting was ruining my enjoyment of the game. I got to the stage where I'd rather just live in my bubble, go to the games and come home. It was almost "ignorance is bliss" kind of attitude. Meaning I'd prefer not to know who was doing what behind the scenes, and what rumour was floating around about who.

There's also people that don't know what they're talking about, and I think I found it difficult (I was younger) to just think to myself... "You don't know what you're talking about", and relax safe in the knowledge that I did (IMO) instead of trying to argue with idiots. Don't get me wrong... a good healthy debate with the respected posters is great. At the end of the day it's a forum and the whole point is to read contrasting opinions, would be pretty dull if everyone replied to an OP with "Agreed!". Two contrasting opinions both backed up with intelligent arguments is the whole point of it. I think it takes time to learn which posters to just ignore as people trying to invoke a reaction (is that what "Trolling" is?? New to forums really so don't quite get the etiquette involved.)

That actually leads me on to my next point... I think the majority of people could do with being a bit more patient with newer people. People do tend to get VERY funny with people that don't get the etiquette of forums (for example start new threads when an old one would do etc). I must admit it has become very "cliquey". Difficult for people to contribute and have opinions without being accused of being somebody else or using an alias or something. I suppose that'll only come with time.

It is possible to know about RL without being a Forum Etiquette Expert or Linguistics and Vocabulary Guru.

Anyway... Just my opinion.

I think he posts under a different username too. Not as much anymore though. I miss LS13. CraigLoiners endless battle against the ‘OBN’ was also funny.
