| This will be interesting from a neutral's perspective, because we'll see what McDermott is capable of with a good squad at his disposal.
I think its fair to say I was not unhappy to see McDermott leave Quins - Under his stewardship we saw the club go backwards on the pitch, recruit poorly and as a result declining attendances. Performances particularly at the beginning and end of last season were staggeringly inept - a lack of skill, some terrible defending, utterly lacking any direction going forward. But then, he had limited financial resources at his disposal, despite the obvious talents of LMS, Randall, Orr, Jones-Bishop and Purdham.
On the one hand it baffles me that a coach who achieved such poor results at a smaller club can then go on and obtain a job coaching a much bigger, wealthier club. On the other, McDermott may go some way now to justifying the (hitherto largely unjustified) gushing praise he gets in the media and establishing himself as a geniunely talented coach. But I'm not entirely certain it will work out that way.
If the posts about players respecting him are true, then that's a good start - it was always my impression last season that the squad had very little confidence in him.

For reference, Wigan is like the Roman Empire. Warrington is like the pillow fort I built in my bedroom when I was 9. Ok, 26...

| Very strange scenario, having said that i'm sure people behind the scene are fully in control and it won't affect you guys too much.

He has the advantage of already worked here and playing a part in our success.
Of course he has to prove himself and time will tell if he's got the nous and abillity to handle the job.

Exactly!
Next season could be fun, but I'd certainly expect a more robust attitude on the pitch from the entire team.

| Not a surprise - McLennan was a lame duck with the appointment of McDermott as his assistant, he's got out now before he was pushed out mid season IMO.

| It was obvious GH didn't want to give McClennan another year but had limited options contractually.
So he simply brought in his replacement a year ahead of time and effectively forced McClennan's hand.
He did the same with Smith in getting him the England job and same with Powell.
Not a man to be messed with Gary!!
