a shame really, I went to Cardiff with my Wigan shirt on about 10 years ago, with a Leeds scarf and a Bradford hat. Awesome reception from fans but the last 5 or 6 years seems to be a lot more trouble at games. Our issue at our club is the ale, mix that with spotty faced chavs and its a cocktail of bother.

These aren't real rugby league fans and never will be. I've been to a few magic weekends as a Wigan supporter and sit in the Saints end with my Saints supporting girlfriend. Nothing ever kicks off and there's always good banter beteween the supporters. The worst you get is "shut up you muppet" when I invarably start singing along with the Wigan fans etc.

The problem with the Challenge cup is the fact that you get a lot of people attending who don't watch rugby league (or even worse, are used to football crowds) and don't understand that this sort of thing is not what real rugby fans expect.

The above idiot should be banned firstly from this site and if any information is known about him given to aouthorities e mail etc.

Their does seem to be some footage of what happened in 109 and lets hope it's used and they are caught.
Us the fans of this great game need to make sure this scum don't ruin our reputation. I have been in the west stand with Leeds fans on a couple of occasions and had some really good natured banter.

I would like to think that the trouble in the east end of the ground on saturday were neither Warrington or Leeds fans just morons that wore and shamed the shirt on the day.

Quote: bulldog13 "I've said this before but until the authorities ban sale of alcohol during the games this will continue to happen and, god forbid, scenes only previously seen with soccer.
RL C.Cup final - speccies typically leave 7am and start on the beer; Grand Final even worse - speccies get to drink all day and by 6pm ko are well and truly bladdered!
Next - continue to be served and recipe for aggression.....

I have seen this at recent GF games with Saints and Leeds and also at Wembley with Saints and Hull fans (yes - I am Saints fan). I'm not picking on any named team either, all clubs have their idiots especially when beer is freely available - Saints more than many!

Sad day when I say that alcohol shouldn't be sold at matches but I really fear for the day when it all kicks off and, for once, we as RL sport finally appears on the BBC News and front pages in the press for all the wrong reasons.'"

Why should those of us who can have a bevvy or two and behave ourselves be punished for this minority though?!

While we are at it, perhaps we should ban all dogs because of a minority of irresponsible owners or ban all cars because of a minority of s on the roads?

Identify and punish those at fault without punishing everyone.

You obviously are unable to recognise Richie’s childish brand of sarcasm – he was probably drunk when he posted this but top marks for your OTT kneejerk reaction.

All the FANS on the Wolves side will agree with all the FANS on here that these idiots do not appear to be real fans and probably saw the final as an excuse to go out for a p###-up for the day. Of all the games that could possibly provide TV/CCTV/Photo proof this was perhaps the one that the RFL etc get the most evidence of those involved. Lets chuck the book at them and support both our clubs when it takes action against these pi###cks.

Personlly I had no problem with the Leeds fans on Saturday. Good banter before hand and after the game.

The key issue is how do we stop it. As a long established football fan I got fed up with the premier league when my team started playing one up front at home. I was attracted to RL by the effort demanded in the sport, the committment of the players and the ability to stand up and watch the game with a pint or two. As a result I have been following leeds home and away for the last 5 years and this was my fourth CC final. When we playes away at Saints a couple of years back the weather was so bad that all the Saints fans from the open end moved to the traditional away end at half time and a crucial match was played with large sections of opposing fans stood next to each other. No trouble, great banter and a truly super experience. This sadly does not apply to the big finals where the number of drunks attending provides a significant risk of spoiling the day. Stopping the sale of drink in the stadium would not work and would punish those who enjoy this facility. Personally for final I now tend to have a drink or two well away from the ground prior to arriving and getting into the stadium as quickly as possible. Then its all down to luck in terms of where you are sat and who you are sat with. To date we have been lucky but we cant pretend it doesnt happen and we need to do something about it. To date I have been captured by the geat spirit of RL but cant imagine any new fan experiencing the issues raised here returning for another match! So how do we take the random risk element out of such occasions without limiting the opportunities of the responsible majority?

There's always been potential for a bit of off field biff at Wembley. I remember late 70's, 77 or 78, being involved with some emotional Widnes supporters before the big match, when a bit of banter got up there noses.

Did they start the punch up?...yes

Did we tw@@t them?....yes

Did they run away for reinforcements?....yes

Did they return with a whole coachload of the ugliest fookers outside of Castleford?....yes

Did we then make a strategic withdrawl?...yes

Did anybody die?.....NO

Early morning starts, plus a load of ale, can sometimes end in tears, or a ride in the nice policeman's car.

Quote: Pee Wee Hunt "any one noticed the fight in the crowd at the wire end of the stadium late on in the game, was it some of the parents of the temple moor team?
I saw it all kick off from where we were (in the corner at wire end) it was not good. "Wire" and "leeds" fans involved a man was trying to protect his child who was crying in the middle of the mele. What is the need in idiots ruining our game?

Quote: LS16_Rhino "85K ‘fans’ were at Wembley yesterday.

If we add ALL the Rhinos fans that regularly attend home games week in, week out to ALL the Wire fans that do the same it doesn’t even come close to 85K, not even half.

This means there were 40(+)K ‘none fans’ were in attendance, I’m betting my left bollock that these so called fans wouldn’t even know their way to either Headingley or the HJ.'"

I agree with you. The wire fans, Leeds fans and neutrals that go and watch there own teams week in week out would never dream of causing trouble, specially at the showpiece game of the season. Unfortunatly warrington and leeds would have attracted a fair amount of day trippers who couldn't give a stuff about the reputations of these two fine clubs. I don't think the truth will ever be known about the identities of these idiots but i would'nt bet against that these were the day trippers. I had a great day last saturday, went to the premier inn before and after the match where they had an outdoor bar and music. It was filled with leeds, wire, hull, KR, saints, wigan, etc etc and the thing that stood out was everywhere you looked was groups of fans in different club shirts all having a laugh and giving predictions.

I wouldn't worry about it. Ramrod doesn't get many bites so he'll probably claim this as one. Like I say, don't worry about it though.
