We love you Senior because you’re follically challenged…

Doesn’t really have the same ring to it does it?

The thing that irks most Cas fans is that we are getting some 'posters' using this episode to tar all the decent Cas fans with the same brush. Given some of the things that have been posted recently, anyone would think Cas is some kind of homophobic hotbed instead of it being 15-20 chavs who thought it clever to chant abuse.

FWIW, I hope the muppets are identified and barred for life from the club, just as I hope that every other club identifies their groups of idiots and acts accordingly too.

Ta muchly.

Basically what they are trying to do is say “Ok so we have a homophobic and racist fan-base but you’re disputing the martial status of a player’s parents which is much worst.” (saying that a fat person is fat or a ginger person is ginger is not really defamatory).'"

They're a right bunch to be picking up on the marital status of parents through arent they. "Castleford, The Family Club."

Personally I love giving opposition player abuse on the premis that it is generally expected and made in jest (How many times have I called McDermott a dirty one-eyed cyclops; Senior a bald money-grabber; Harris a sheep sh***er?) but the RFL have now set a precedent and should therefore apply the same rules to all.'"

Your first bit of abuse is mocking someone with a disability.
The second one is fine.
The third borders on racism in that you are using racial stereotypes as am eans of abuse.

Quote: McLaren_Field "Thank you for a reasoned argument.

Your only flaw is in your second paragraph when you say that the sexuality reference in the Castleford incident is irrelevant, its not, its actually very relevant.

Its very relevant because its illegal, its not that it simply goes against some sporting body guidelines or codes of conduct, its actually illegal, if you stood outside The Skyrack and shouted homophobic abuse at a passer-by then a police officer who heard it would arrest you - thats why its not irrelevant.

The RFL have set a precedent in taking action against clubs who attract a small section of law-breakers and unfortunately your own club has attracted a small section of those sort of people for many years, you know it, your club know it, (your club actually employed someone once who partook in anti-semitic abuse on the PA system), and unfortunately the RFL know it - maybe they've just been waiting for this opportunity to come along and your small section of knuckleheads handed the clubs a[irs[/ie to the RFL on a plate ?'"

I don't think anyone is suggesting that calling someone ginger is as serious as giving someone homophobic abuse. However, all abuse is in contradiction with the RFL's 'Respect' policy, regardless of whether it is technically 'legal' or not. Anyway, I'd suggest any individual standing outside The Skyrack (is this the 'in' place to shout abuse?) chanting expletive-littered abuse at passers-by for any reason is committing a public order offence and therefore an illegal act.
As you can see from the RFL's statement, homophomic abuse is just an example of unacceptable behaviour in breach of the 'Respect' policy. I'm suggesting that the chanting aimed towards Graham and the referee is also unacceptable and therefore the Leeds club should have responded to this by making public announcements to try and prevent and then stop the chanting, which did not happen. Therefore the Leeds club have, like Castleford, failed in trying to prevent and stop abusive chanting (regardless of it's substance), which is the offence Castleford were fined for.

Perhaps you could work with the RFL to produce some sort of 'dictat' about what exactly is and is not acceptable? This could then be given to all fans on entry to the ground and could then be referred to by fans before they speak.
My point is that the RFL have now opened a can of worms regarding this issue.

No they havent.

They've outlawed homophobic and racist chanting and quite rightly as per the letter of the law.

You've admitted to something bordering on the latter.

Perhaps you lot should also start a thread on the Saints board about their abuse of bailey which insuated gay rape?

I'd suggest that as the first (and I believe only) sporting organisation rlto sign the Stonewall Charterrl your minority supporters could not have picked a worse moment to chant their homophobic remarks, quite rightly Stonewall would question the RFLs commitment to their declaration if they did not take action and in that respect Cas have been the whipping boys, but there is no denying that it happened nor any way of deflecting the blame - it could have happened at any other SL ground that weekend but it fell to Cas to come up with the goods and the uneducated minority that have thrived on racist abuse in the past did not fail.

All clubs have problem supporters, yours might be dealt with properly now in the same way that Hull dealt with theirs, this could be a good thing for your club.

Is this all going to result in some very quiet terraces ?
If EVERY club was fined EVERY time a group of supporters starts a chant at either a player , the ref , or the opposition fans it will kill the game . It happens every week at every game . Always has , always will .

Then I apologise fully, but I didn't hear it on the TV, despite being able to hear every other PA announcement.

Leon Pryce in the past received far more abuse that the FGB did last night, although to be fair, it was IMO justified.
