| Quote: Ferdy "Brian mcdermott in recent times was a hard nut, remember when he floored about 3 of our lads. '"
No he didn't. He hit three of our lads, but none of them went down, despite what Bulls rose tinted memories may think.
They were good punches, true, but it's been embellished so much by time.
And Tallis thought he was hard, but still went crying to the RFL about being picked on by Morley following a GB/Aus test.

| Quote: Serge A. Storms "Glenn Lazurus - the brick with eyes - very apt'"
In my usual pedantic mode I'd always thought he was known as the "Wall with Eyes."
I once got in a lift with him & he was massive & completely square.
Dave Gillespie was known as Cement I believe.
For dirtyness how about Chris "Clotheshanger" Burton?
Hard, try Alan Prescott who played a almost a full test against the Aussies with a broken arm.

| Glenn Lazurus was 'the brick with eyes'
His nephew (Blake) made his NRL debut last week for Wests Tigers. He was mostly harmless.

| I was impressed by Edwards playing out a cup final with a broken eye socket & jaw - received courtesy of a malicious Des Drummond elbow IIRC

I stand corrected, it must have been a brick wall.

A lot of the Leeds lads who played with Shoey reckon he was a real tough Lad.
I liked Kev Dicks attitude, if he wasn't as good as them just stop them playing by any means, TVOC might help but i'm sure Leeds won at the Boulevard when Sterling played, or rather did'nt play after Dicky stood on his hand at the first scrum.
With all the Camera angles now he'd be a permanent fixture at redhall.

| Seen Les Boyd mentioned a couple of times, I watched Halifax v. Wire when he played, after a mass brawl Roy Dicko just set off for the changing rooms unstrapping his hands, Boyd ranted and raved until he saw the red card the ran past Roy stopping for a chelp. I was there with Roys mate, so we asked what was said, Boyd offerd Roy a private punch up in the changing room, Roy just laughed at him & accepted. Sense prevailed and they are good pals now.
Roy was no shrinking violet though, Think he made his Debut at 17 or 18 Proping against Jim Mills.

Indeed. He's the best after dinner speaker I've heard.

Good shout.
I remember him playing against Widnes and hitting one of the Hulme brothers. When the other ran in, he decked him as well.
He played for GB v Australia at Old Trafford in '86 on Saturday - probably played 80 minutes - then turned out for Leeds on the Sunday. Scored 3 tries if memory serves.
On being selected to tour with GB, a team mate asked him what he would tell the wife. He apparently replied 'What's it to do with her?'
True hard man.
