Quote: Inflatable_Armadillo "I like the look of Child (what I have seen so far, which is limited) and like the fact that he has been ref'ing from a young age and not come to it after finishing a playing career at any level (and the baggage that sometimes brings). I think he is very much like Ben Thaler, likes to let the game run and often I think the players respond better if that is the case. '"

Three of his first five SL appointments last season ended in major shocks that warranted a raised eyebrow or two but since then the results have fallen into line.

13-Apr-09 ..... SL 14-09 ..... Leeds 20 Salford 30 ..... James Child
17-May-09 ..... SL 14-13 ..... Bradford 24 Celtic 30 ..... James Child
03-Jul-09 ..... SL 14-19 ..... Salford 20 St Helens10 ..... James Child

I have no issues with him...... yet.

Quote: Inflatable_Armadillo "given the fact that I don't see how we can not move to the Aussies system of 2 ref's in the next few years!'"

I hope the two ref solution stays down under.

I was not at the Leeds v Salford game for some reason... can't remember why now, so can't comment but if you have no issues yet, we will go with that. Lets see what happens on Sunday at Belle Vue!

Hmm, undecided as yet, need to see more Aussie games on TV first, but I do see the big hand of fate looming over the two ref system and SL!

isnt it great how aussie refs can't handle a game on their own, but the aussies will insist on their own refs to referee on their own in test matches and the WCC.

O/T on this thread but speaking of which I wonder which SL official will get the WCC this year?

Leeds game, played in Leeds, why can't we have a Leeds referee, it's just not fair.

Guys just to give you a heads up, it's 20 quid on the day but save yourself a little moan and two quid by prepurchasing a ticket for 18 quid!

That two quid could get you a pint!

Thanks, Rhinoms has posted a link to the club website and they are pushing this also (they also note that if we buy from Headingley the club gets 10%!).

A pint yes possibly, but definitely not in any ground! icon_wink.gif

Rob Burrow in tonight's YEP Online"Wakefield are going to be confident, they are top of the table and have won their opening two games. We have been there and been beaten in the past, so we know that we will have to be at the top of our game or we will struggle."[/i

That must be 'we' as in Leeds RL as it isn't an experience any of the current playing squad have endured. Extending that thought to the coaches, Cummins may have been on junior forms though as a just turned sweet sixteen.

21st October 1992 Wakefield 17 Leeds 16

A think, given last Friday, and how well Wakey played against us (and in general) last year I agree with the sentiment he is trying to give out, so we can maybe excuse him the facts... however, I am sure Bluey will remind them of this fact, as well as the fans!

maybe he meant top of the table after two games? have we lost our third game of the season recently
or could be a missing comma?

I think he may be mixing up our reasonably occasional SL victories at Headingley with games at BV. Some have been very close but no cigar.

In 1992 I was 29 I'm now 46!!! A whole generation has come along since we last beat you at BV, and tbh I can't see that changing. Like death and taxes it's seems almost inevitable.
