I hate it when the in laws come to see my semi.

Main roads will generally be OK as rush hour traffic wears most of it down. Less busy roads are f*cked and any hills that haven't been worn through you won't stand a chance.

It won't sod off though, it just keeps snowing.

From my desk (at home today) I have a great vantage point to watch people trying to drive their cars down the hill.
It's hilarious.
The most popular method seems to be brake and slide four feet, move a tiny bit with the wheels revolving, brake and slide four feet, move a tiny bit with the wheels revolving, brake and slide four feet ... etc.
Most of them are making more distance with the brake on than off.

I guess they never get the opportunity to practice the right way to do it.

The right way, in my opinion, being to leave it at home.

The one problem with working from home is that no-one believes you when you email head office to say you can't make it to the office today and are having a snow day.

I have to be in Birmingham early tomorrow - looking at their forecast I might just give it a miss...

Train i got on at dewsbury was 40 mins late due to the train not being able to pick up speed in the manchester area. Also wehn in Leeds i did notice that they were cancelling alot of trains to Manchester & Kings Cross and alot of our offices in Manchester got phone calls this morning telling them not to bother coming in so that area must be bad as i work for slave drivers!!!

Took one look outside and decided not to bother with the car. (Low profile tyres are useless in snow at the best of times, never mind what we had last night)

Walking to the local bus stop I took a glance down Whitecote Hill - there wasn't a chance that a bus was getting up there (assuming it could have got up Coal Hill Lane which I imagine was even worse).

Decided to walk to Bramley Town End but realised that I was walking quicker than traffic was moving.
I can't remember the last time I had to walk to work .

My job usually revolves around clearing up and resolving the sh*t of idiots. But the snow has brought more of these out of the woodwork.

Today they are just idiots covered in snow and blood, rather than just the empty look they carry on their faces.

They were limited to 5mph at Liverpool (according to someone on the Chat Thread, Sinbin) as there was a tree that was about to fall onto the lines. They've suspended trains to Liverpool now apparently

I was supposed to be in Grantham for 2:00pm and Settle tonight – currently I’m working from home (hence being able to post without works web filter grassing me up) and going nowhere for the foreseeable future.

What really p1ssed me off today was there is around 1 and a half foot of snow in the scottish borders where I live. Yet on the news they had a reporter in London to say it was not snowing there! Why does that need a reporter to go somewhere to report on something that is not happening. It is a joke, scotland and North England consistently have far more snow, yet if a snowflake in london falls, a news team follows it.

That was built on Saturday. There's a better one I'm waiting on.
