At 14 I wouldn't tie yourself to any particular position. You are likely to continue to develop further which could take you in a different direction.
What you should do is try to develop good all round rugby skills, then whatever role you end up in you will be a better player for it.
The first reason is that a player with additional skills is always better, eg a forward with good hands, or a halfback with great defence.
Secondly, teams at any level value flexability, and if you can fill a number of positions you are likely to get much better game time

Play to the best of your ability in whichever position the coach picks you.
It'll become clearer over time which position you're most suited to.
The main thing to be concerned about at this stage is making an effective contribution to the team. |

I do wonder about that. Many of the kids I coach like the idea of coming to rugby, they enjoy being with their mates and messing about and their parents enjoy the social side. Do they enjoy actually playing rugby? It's obvious a lot don't (one openly blackmails his father who is also one of the coaches and is desperate for him to play).
In the end that's not really a problem, I'm happy kids enjoy what we do overall and there is more to sport than results and in some cases the sport itself. It can be a real challenge though when you are trying to coach when some kids just want to throw mud at each other. Still, I'm a Leeds lad so I can shout really, really loud  |

Not really. The number of kids who drop out and the lack of kids (and adults) who take it up in the first place probably shows that not that many enjoy it. |
