My Sky 6 months of cheap subs ran out tomorrow, so I was one the verge of phoning Virgin to get my TV from them. Happily, Sky phoned this morning, and offered to extend my cheap offer for 12 months! Yay! I don't have to use Virgin's awfully user-unfriendly digi-service!

This thread has just reminded me why we switched to sky a few years ago

I've had sky for 20 years with no problems apart from the odd snowstorm.
If a deal's cheap it's usually cheap for a reason.
Besides where I live there's no access to cable TV.

It's back on now but it's been off since 8 this morning. We rang the technician who installed it for us and he said workmen have cut through the main cable. Broadbands still off but the phone and tv are going.

Your right and Sky are cheap thats why i dumped them years ago. The quality was very poor in bad weather and that big ugly dish on the wall.

The quality of cable is far superior and i've had no problems with cable for 10 years where as Sky everytime it rained

A service that relies on good atmospheric conditions and a BT copper wire phone line to get its service to your door versus one that invested properly in fibre optic cabling right to your doorstep ...

Which one should I choose for the best quality service

Had Sky for 17 years, never had a problem with it.

I've always had Sky and although the usual "blizzard" interference occurs once or twice a yr i've had many more problems with my Virgin broadband.

I hate that you can only programme 24 hours in the future on your programme planner with Virgin. It's useless for holidays.

You mean except the time when their 'cowboy' fitters drilled through the pipe in our wall, flooded the living room and caused us loads of hassle???

I must have missed the bit where the opening poster spoke of installation.

Have we had a problem with Sky not working?
