I can see Peteru playing prop next season as a stop gap.
Would rather we kept Garbutt or sign another prop as I don`t see Donaldson as the answer to our propping situation.

Props for next season in no particular order are: Cuthbertson, Singleton, Oledzki, Peteru, Crosby.

In addition we have Mullally and Holroyd as back up. I think we’d all like to see another quality prop come in, but we’re not absolutely desperate and we won’t see another unless one of the above leaves.

I think you will find JJB will be playing prop to be honest.

Peteru is a prop and was signed as a prop. he was starting to look decent back end of last season with games under his belt, i expect a big season from him next year.

Holroyd looked monstrous against Aussie school boys,expect him to be aiming for 6-10 games next season, Oledski will only get better after a year of doing it tough in adversary. Singleton needs to book his ideas up, Crosby is safe solid and generally reliable. Cuhbo at his best laying to his strengths is one of the best attaching forwards in super league.

I think everyone's pretty much agreed that another prop is on the wish list. Peteru is a big thing but part of the reason he's here rather than NRL, IMO like Cuthbo, is that he is perhaps somewhere in between a bakcrower and prop. If you look at Holroyd, for me he's an out and out prop, and so would be Oledski and Dupree. It's not just size; it's impact in the tackle (with and without the ball), aggression, and some skill to begin second phase. Very tough position to play in lots of respects, and if you're not cut out for it physically or mentally, you need to play another position. JJB is nowhere near being a prop, altough he's willing to play anywhere for the team of course.
Leeds massively lacked go-forward and momentum last year, and that begins in your front row. The mistakes that resulted from the side being knackered, were due to playing off the back foot too much and lacking go-forward. It's too simple just to say that conditioning was at fault - Leeds' conditioning staff under McD have won plenty of trophies after all.
I know we can throw lots of names in the squad for who CAN play at prop, but in terms of REAL props I think we're still too light. I am very happy Merrin has been earmarked to play back row though I have to say.
McD's policy of signing anyone who was tall and fairly mobile has left us with a load of Brian McDermotts with no Joe Vaganas or Paul Andersons. And we've lost the only proper senior prop we had in Garbutt.
I really do like the young lads coming through, but none of them are ready for a full SL campaign yet. Maybe Peteru or Mullally will surprise me, who knows.

Especially after the experience gained being with us most of 2017 too. I think your future is looking extremely good in the prop department if they all develop with Holroyd, Mustapha and Dupree with big Mik some rotation that could potentially be.

Agree with you on Singleton, flatters to deceive a lot think he seems to be in a comfort zone

Cuthbertson - in reality an off loading lock who doesn't provide much punch or go forward at prop.
Singleton - decent grafting rotation prop but another who does not go forward to great effect but has value for his all round game.
Oledzki - still learning, will improve but not sure he is ready yet to be a main stay.
Petru- hard to judge, maybe injury prone on last seasons evidence.
Crosby - steady away

The prop situation is odd. We knew we needed and stand off, centre/wing and at least one back row and in the main we have filled those positions well.

We were light in the pack last season and garbutt ping makes that worse yet we don't seem to have made any serious moves for new props. There must be a reason for this. Perhaps it's a lack of attainable quality so we are waiting it out but I wonder if, as someone has said, we are wanting to be mobile next season and play more in the backs?
