And in 2011?

Whats this 'at any cost' bit. Caldy (No we're not mates but having helped pay his wages for a few a years Im sure He'd let me have this one) has been released.
Jeez some guys just cant hold a straight conversation these days.

Like I said. A fit and on form Calderwood is better, but that fitness if for medical teams to decide not me, and considering Hull releasing him I guess that is your answer.

Im not pro Caldy here, just saying that if we were looking for some speed to replace Donald he [imay [/ibe an option.
'"
Is that "some speed" he uses to run sideways 9 times out of 10?

| I think direct comparisons between Calderwood (at his best) and Hall or Smith are difficult. Calderwood brought raw speed, the league's best kick chase and tremendous marker defence. Hall has that raw power and size which is a rare weapon in a winger. He's got some learning to do, but he's already a far better close range finisher than Calderwood. Hardly short of space either. Smith on the other hand is probably the slowest of the 3, but he is the most complete rugby player, and has an eye for a gap or an angle, a predatory instinct and an uncanny ability to find the try line in big games.
Moot point, because I don't think the Calderwood of 2005(ish) still exists.
I think the club should always be open to the right player being available and improving the squad, but Calderwood wouldn't do that. We have 2 wingers who are currently better, with Watkins and Ben Jones-Bishop who can cover in the three quarters, even if they're not natural wingers. No objection to considering another option if it's the right option at the right price. Not Calderwood though.

I don't dissagree with any of that. I think you put it rather well.
For me though there isn't a winger in this country who comes close to Calderwood of 2005. I would love to see us work with a winger to match the way Calderwood played.

| The only way Calderwood could come back to Leeds is if he offered to join on a pay as you play deal, and train with the squad to prove his fitness.
It ain't gonna happen though...

| Calderwood's 'minder' is a mouthy little f-ker.
Bet he ends up getting him in more trouble that out of it.

Well put
Only one of two posters on this thread (except me obvioulsy) who grasped what it was about.
Totally agree with everything said here.

Considering your opening post appears to suggest signing Calderwood could be a smart move and the EL D post you're now agreeing with says the opposite you should fit right in around here.

| Calderwood is the best natural winger of this generation & should have been a GB regular. It ain't gonna happen now though.

I think you hit the nail on your own head here TVOC - "could".
It was a question, perhaps even the start of a discussion or a debate if you will.
Appears that for some that concept is just too abstract.

| In answer to your question in that case - no, nobody else does think he might be a good option...
